Social Philosophizers Dinner Club

  • Apr 25, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Social Philosophizers will continue the larger restaurant meetings formerly sponsored by Boston Area Philosophy Discussions. These meetings will be somewhat structured but not centered around a specific discussion topic. (For specific topical discussions in philosophy, please visit Boston Area Philosophy Discussions; if you are not a member please consider joining!)  A series of questions relating not just to philosophy but to current events, movies, books, cultural events, etc. will be thrown out to the group to stimulate conversation even if—as is typically the case, no stimulus is needed. The dinner could well be extended afterwards at a pub or coffee shop.

The first dinner club meeting will be at our old haunt, the Green Tea Restaurant in Newton.

Each attendee is responsible for paying for his or her food and beverages (in addition to any organizer or administrative fees for the event). Whether or not we receive separate checks or pay as a group (depending on the venue) it is required that you purchase the equivalent of a meal; it is hugely unfair to the host to pay "just for a Coke" or something like that. Expect to pay $20 or more for food and beverage costs; it is only fair to the establishment.  For some venues, it could cost less, others more, but these are dinner events and you are expected to order dinner. By attending this event you hereby agree to this policy.

Sometimes some of us head out for a late night prolongation of the evening at a nearby pub or, perhaps, a coffee shop.

AT THE GREEN TEA: Do not carpool to the pub: drive your car down the street and re-park it at the pub or around the corner from it because there is TOWING after the little mall area closes for the night.

When you RSVP for one of our events it is expected that you have every intention of attending. Please refrain from impulse reservations and impulse cancellations!  No Show Policy.  A "no show" may forfeit your privilege of attending future meetings. (PLEASE READ)

The organizers/admission fee for this event is $5.50  paid in advance via Paypal or $5.00 payable upon arrival.  All food, beverage and any other expenses are the responsibility of each individual participant (as described above).
