Date: November 13, 4:30-6:30pm

Location:
Bar Louie One Loudoun
20586 Easthampton Plaza
Ashburn, VA 20147

Description:

Join us for cocktails and appetizers at a data science meet-up in Washington, D.C.:

McKinsey predicts a shortage of 190,000 data scientists by 2018. How can companies turn data into a competitive advantage in this environment? A new wave of "automated data science" technologies is democratizing data science and making it a core competency for any organization.

Jeremy Funk, a former data scientist at Capital One, will talk about where the data science market stands today, and where the most pressing gaps are. Jeremy will then talk about how he's leveraging new "Data Science as a Service (DSaaS)" applications to fill those gaps. He'll detail how DSaaS is empowering anyone – from the non-technical business user to the data scientist – to gain understanding from his/her data, automatically. Jeremy will highlight sample use cases from companies like Lowe's, NASA, Rio Tinto, and countless others, who are implementing powerful machine learning techniques, such as classification, by uploading a .csv and clicking "run". Following Jeremy, Mark Ettrich, founder of Big Data District, will demo a mobile application that will help customers understand data privacy concerns and give them real-time privacy scoring on their mobile devices.

Networking and food will begin at 4:30pm, followed by a presentation beginning at 5pm. We hope to see you there.

You must register here to attend the event (meetup.com is not sufficient)
