Chinatown Kung-Fu movie festival

Every summer Chinatown appropriately hosts a Kung Fu movie festival in a back lot on Hudson street. Having a soft spot for both Kung Fu and Chinatown this was perfect for me. On Friday they're showing a movie that looks fun - Gallants. An action / comedy about aging Kung Fu stars. This looks truly silly- Legend of Drunken Master, Kung Fu Hustle, or Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon style. I'm looking forward to it!

Here is the event website:

And here is the movie trailer:

They don't have a movie start time posted on the website yet (at least that I could find) but I would assume it would be around sunset. If there is interest I'd be up for getting a bit to eat first. There is also supposed to be some entertainment before the movie. I'll put on an update closer to the actual event date.

Great fun and and in a good location. So many good places to choose from when getting food afterwards.

I know China pearl is a popular spot but since most people probably don't work in the area it would be tough to get there by 6. I think the best thing is to grab a snack at one of the bakeries near by (try the red bean pastries!) on your way in. Then we can hang out at show to get good seats and see the "entertainment" there. I'll be there at 7 but if you're a little late that's ok. I'll send my phone number in an email. The weather is looking good right now- lets hope it stays that way!

China Pearl is great. But I saw on the filmatthegate.org site that the movie starts at 8, meaning we'd have to have a really early dinner. What does everyone think of having dinner afterwards??

I'd be interested in dinner before or after the show
