  • Friendly Collegial Lunch meetup - Thursday Nov 15th in Arlington - Multigroup
Save the time and date: Tuesday August 21 in Arlington. Remember when you worked in an office, and they gave you some time to eat lunch in the cafeteria, and you actually pulled yourself away from your desk and went and ate lunch with other people? Nah, I don't remember that either, but it sure sounds like fun. And, it's the law. If your employer denied you a lunch break, you'd be filing a complaint with the state so fast. About 25 people expressed interest, which means that probably five to eight people will show up. The others will all have good excuses, such as, "It's too cold," "I'm too tired," "I have too much work," "I have a deadline," "my clients need me," etc. I don't want to hear your excuses, Please don't bore me with those lame-o excuses, I just want you to show up. it will be at some eatery near Mass Ave in Arlington. I will call tom'w and see if there's some place good that can accommodate eight of us for lunch. RSVP by obtaining a free ticket at eventbrite, first come, first served: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/thursday-nov-15-collegial-lunch-at-a-restaurant-in-arlington-tickets-52446947231 that way I'll know you're coming, and be able to contact you easily. That will also help to limit the attendance. If you think this idea can fly, please do sign up and show up, and then we can repeat this pleasure again next week. bests, The location will be sent the evening before to all who sign up for the event on Eventbrite. -rsr- Ron Rothenberg HomeBase RE [masked]

From Kirk: If the balcony is not open, we'll try to sit in the 2nd left middle section, in the back rows. • Free Tai Chi for World Kindness Day!
Kindness begins with you. It is much easier to express kindness towards others when you feel kindly towards yourself. Join us at 6pm on Wednesday, November 14 and be kind to your mind and body with the kindest exercise in the world: Tai Chi. Tai Chi is the science of standing, walking and moving objects in a state of minimum effort and maximum awareness, never expending more energy than is absolutely necessary. When you practice tai chi, you're treating your muscles, joints, and bones with the utmost respect. You're no longer asking them to support you or move objects around you in ways that are unnecessarily burdensome or full of effort. You're being kind to your body, asking it only to do what is necessary and no more. You're releasing your stress and your tension, approaching movement and your own mind with love. This manner of kindness towards yourself is the key to youth, long life and happiness. And it is the beginning of joy and kindness towards others. Come to Huan's Tai Chi the day after World Kindness Day and take the first step toward making a habit out of kindness. At 6pm there will be a Bagua Zhang class, which is a martial art very similar to Tai Chi. Then at 7pm the Yang style Tai Chi class will begin. Both classes are free and open to the public. All ages are welcome! Parking information: http://huanstaichi.com/index.php?page=contact Master Huan Zhang began studying Chinese martial arts in 1982. He carries on the lineages of both Yang and Chen style tai chi, in addition to other traditional martial art forms. He has been interviewed by WCVB Channel 5, NECN, and AM 1470. He is the author of two tai chi related books and has been featured many times in Tai Chi International Magazine. He has been mentioned in Qi Journal and Inside Kung Fu. He was involved in a Tai Chi & Exercise Research Study called HELP - Helping Elders Living with Pain. He has lectured and performed demonstrations at Harvard University, MIT, Hanscom Air Force Base, The Boston World Trade Center, 1st Night Boston, and many other places.
