Not sure if you know, but Southampton has many "hidden cultural gems" that many people may not be aware of, including two fabulous world-leading art galleries!
This is really just a relaxed social, for anyone interested in art, to come join me for a casual stroll through one (and possibly) both of the galleries on a Saturday afternoon.
We may have to book in advance (the galleries are free), but this is really just to gauge interest, and for me to get a feel of where this group stands. I know both galleries well, having given talks at both of them, so happy to act as an informal guide too, if you have never been. If people are up for it, we may go on to a cafe or bar afterwards to continue the conversation - so sign up if you are interested!
The annual Science & Engineering Day at the University of Southampton is returning in March 2022!
This has always been a very popular event locally, with thousands of visitors every year before the Covid-19 Pandemic, and featuring lots of fun hands-on activities as well as interesting displays such as science magic shows and entertaining lectures. No previous knowledge of science is required!
Although events are free, we would ask you to register on the website, which will be announced in due course, with details of all the shows and activities available. Note that several of the more popular shows/activities are timed, so you will need to book these in advance.
Science and Engineering Day is part of a wider week+ long festival taking place between 10-20 March, #SotSEF.
Note: if I am involved in organising the event again this year, I may not be available to host you directly on the day, but there will be lots of go do and see, so for now, just keep the date(s) in the diary, as there will be plenty to keep you entertained and lots of very interesting people to talk to throughout the event!
