Let's talk Policy! (not the "inside the beltway" kind)

Back from our summer hiatus...

I received a lot of feedback at the last Meetup event from folks who were interested in network policy. As a result, the next Meetup event will be policy-centric, with presentations on the following topics:

* Current Academic Research on Network Policy

* Group Based Policy in OpenStack

* Congress in OpenStack

* Group Based Policy in OpenDaylight

I'm also open to having other policy topics covered if there's enough interest, so please feel free to send along ideas on other things you'd like to hear about.

We'll use the same format from previous events, with drinks from 6:30-7pm, followed by presentations on the above topics, and finally the usual open forum and questions, which tend to run the gamut of SDN topics.

The Warehouse theater is in the back of "The Passenger" bar, at[masked]th St. NW. Just go in the bar and head straight for the door in the back. Once you're through the door, head around to the right to reach the Warehouse Theater. See you all there!

    As brought up I think the comparison between overlay and openflow would be a good topic for the next meeting. Martin Casado stated here his opinion https://www.sdncentral.com/news/martin-casado-loves-new-job-vmware/2014/09/ but I am wondering if there are others. I thought the knowledge of not just the speaker but also the participants we top notch and I really learned alot. Thank you all.

      There are definitely others such as OpFlex. http://tools.ietf.org...

      I think you are right: Casado is quoted in that article as follows: "The broader SDN noise has died down. Before, I would go to Japan, and I would have to argue why overlay is better than hop-by-hop OpenFlow. ... Every legitimate network virtualization solution is overlay-based..." Really. I think it needs more discussion...

      Noiro (Cisco) sponsored the venue -- I just realized I should have mentioned that in the Meetup invite :-). Thanks for all who attended -- I hope you found it helpful!
