Come to hear Lee Thurburn, lifelong entrepreneur, give his talk:

“From IPO to Cryptocurrency ... The journey of a Entrepreneur.”

Mr. Thurburn took a company public as CEO and Chairman in 1999. Since then, he has been working to re-create the same level of success and has struggled to accomplish that goal. His current company,, is a SaaS platform which is reasonably mature but it exists in a highly competitive space. Lee has now incorporated cryptocurrency into the platform to create a unique competitive position in the market. Lee describes his journey, including his trials and successes. He brings to the meetup a crypto mining machine for people to see.

Upon graduation armed with an accounting degree, Mr. Thurburn worked for Arthur Anderson in their Dallas Tax Division. Then he started a private CPA Firm with a partner and later sold that business. After that, he joined First Eye Care and grew the business to 25 doctors with 17 offices across the DFW area. Mr. Thurburn then provided business management and consulting services to optometry and ophthalmology professionals. He wrote the book entitled “Modern Optometry, a Practice Management Guide,” used as a textbook at Colleges of Optometry. A subsequent book “Mexico: The New Land of Opportunity – a Guide to doing business in Mexico” sold a total of over 5,000 copies.

Mr. Thurburn subsequently founded FlashNet, Inc., an Internet Service Provider, where he served as CEO and Chairman of the Board. Mr. Thurburn grew FlashNet to nearly 400 employees and provided Internet dial-up access service to over 250,000 customers across the U.S. He took FlashNet public in 1999 through an IPO on the NASDAQ under the symbol of FLAS. He sold FlashNet to Prodigy a Southwestern Bell company.

Next, Lee founded NetOffer, Inc., a broad-spectrum marketing service firm that enables clients to market their businesses efficiently and cost-effectively. Mr. Thurburn sold NetOffer to Apricot Rocket, Inc. in 2014 and has gone on to help Apricot Rocket, Inc. create a SaaS platform offering Lead Generation, CRM, Marketing Automation, and E-commerce software services.

Mr. Thurburn holds both a BBA degree in Accounting and an M.B.A from the University of Texas at Arlington.
