Our group is a bunch of single parents, both moms and dads, who get together and do BOTH kid-outings together, and sometimes adult nights, where we get a babysitter and hang out as adults. We want to both get out there with our kids and meet fellow parents experiencing the challenges (and joys) of solo-parenting.
It is not intended to be a "dating" group -- although, of course, if that happens it's great -- it's more a way for us to bond about the unique experience of raising children solo. I just don't want anyone to feel like they need to get all dolled up for our meet-ups!
Dads are particularly welcome! Our group has regular dads and I think it's more gender balanced than many other single parent groups. But our moms do out-number our dads, so dads -- step up and join us!
Everyone really is very friendly and welcoming and it's become a cool little group. We have about 15 of us who have become a "core" group of regulars, and we always have at least a few new people every time. Maybe it comes with single parenting, but our parents are also not flakes at all -- people actually show up. We have even gone camping and skiing together...It's really a great group!
I've narrowed it to Northeast LA so we're relatively close to each other, but anyone of course is welcome to join.
