Travel to Battambang, the second largest city in Cambodia for a taste of real local life. And finally, end your tour in the lively town of Siem Reap, home to the magnificent temples of Angkor.
DEPART UK - 13th October 2018
Day 1 - 14th October 2018 – Arrive Phnom Penh
Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, proceed to your hotel for check-in. Rest of the day at your leisure. Dinner will be arranged for your first night in Cambodia. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
Day 2 – Phnom Penh
This morning you will visit the stunning Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda, built by King Norodom in 1866 in Phnom Penh’s old town. Next, you will head to the National Museum to see a collection of Khmer art, and over 5000 artefacts from Angkor Wat. You will then continue to the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum and The Killing Fields to understand the atrocities which occurred in this beautiful country under Pol Pot’s regime. This can be an upsetting experience but it is important to know what happened here not so long ago. From here, you will be taken to the Psar Toul Tom Poung, also known as the Russian Market. You can then enjoy sunset views from Wat Phnom Temple. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
Day 3 – Phnom Penh / Battambang
After breakfast, you will be leaving Phnom Penh and heading by public bus to Battambang, Cambodia’s second largest city. The journey is roughly 5 hours. Upon arrival in Battambang you will be taken to your hotel for check-in. Overnight in Battambang.
Day 4 - Battambang
After breakfast at hotel, you will visit Phnom Sampeou Mountain, steeped in legend and topped by Wat Sampeou and a group of caves used as ‘killing caves’ by the Khmer Rouge, which contain skeletal remains of their victims. In the afternoon, continue on to visit Ek Phnom Temple, an 11th century Angkorian-era ruin built as a Hindu temple under Suryavarman I. Wat Ek Phnom, a modern pagoda, sits next to the ruin. The river road drive to Ek Phnom from Battambang passes through small villages and rice paddies and is a beautiful countryside drive. You will also visit a market where Prahoc, the Cambodian fish paste, is made. Return to town for a short walk to the local market before ending your day with a visit to the bamboo train village. Overnight in Battambang.
Day 5 – Battambang / Siem Reap
After breakfast in Battambang, you will drive to Siem Reap by private transfer. After lunch, you will be taken to visit the floating village of Chong Khneas, 10km south of Siem Reap. From here, take a boat trip in a traditional wooden boat down the Tonle Sap Lake, one of the largest lakes in Asia. You will continue to a local primary school and then to Chantiers Ecoles – Les Artisans d’Angkor, where training is being provided to young Cambodians in an effort to revive the ancient Khmer traditions to stone carving and wood sculpting.
Day 6 – Siem Reap / Angkor
Today you will be exploring the wondrous ancient ruins of Angkor. Starting at the south gate, you will see Angkor Thom, famous for its series of colossal human faces carved in stone. Next, take a visit to the impressive Bayon Temple, with its multitude of smiling stone faces. You will also explore the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, Preah Khan, Neak Pean, and the Elephant Terrace. If there is time, you can also walk up to Phnom Bakheng Hill, for spectacular sunset views over these incredible sandstone monuments. Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 7 – Siem Reap / Angkor
The beginning of your second day touring the Angkor area will be spent at Bantey Srei, a 10th century Hindu temple dedicated to the God, Shiva. During the trip you will visit the temple of Bantey Samre where, according to legend, a farmer became King of the Sweet Cucumbers. On the way back you will visit Ta Prohm, the jungle temple which has been engulfed by the surrounding trees and featured in many a Hollywood movie. In the afternoon you will head out to discover the beautiful Angkor Wat, one of the most extraordinary monuments in the world. Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 8 - 21st October 2018 – Depart Siem Reap
Today will be spent at your leisure until you need to leave for your international flights home.
The price of the above tour is just £599.00 for all deposits paid by 31st May 2018 (please check of any increase after this date). It does not include flights from the UK. Please get in touch for suggested flights. We have both ATOL and TTA bonding for all trips for complete financial protection. Any trips that include flights are ATOL bonded whereas tours without flights are TTA bonded. Please get in touch if you would like help with the booking of flights. (Please do not book your flights until we have at least 5 people confirmed). If you would prefer your own room, the single supplement is an extra £199.00. A non-refundable deposit of £150.00 via bank transfer will secure you a place.

Please note that a check-in time of 14.00 is typical at most hotels. If you are arriving on an early flight, please let us know if you would like the room to be booked from the night before (for an additional cost) to ensure that the room is available for you when you arrive.
It may sometimes be necessary to make small, last-minute changes to our itineraries or hotels for reasons beyond our control. We will ensure that you are kept updated of any changes.
Visas are required for Cambodia which we can organise for you. Please ensure you have 6 months’ validity on your passport and at least 2 blank pages. Please also get in touch for suggested flights.
