An evening of classical guitar featuring classical guitarist, Christopher Mrofchak!
Christopher Mrofchak is a classical guitarist based in Tallahassee, Florida. Originally from Northeastern Ohio, he began developing his performing abilities while studying guitar with his father at the age of eight. His formal studies began at the Dana School of Music of Youngstown State University under the direction of Dr. François Fowler. Christopher has since been the recipient of several awards including 3rd prize at the 2018 Indiana International Guitar Festival and Competition, 3rd prize 2018 at the Southern Guitar Festival and Competition, 3rd prize at the 2018 University of Louisville Guitar Festival and Competition, 2nd prize at the James Stroud All-Ohio guitar competition and 1st prize at the Troy University Guitar Competition. He has performed in major cities across the eastern United States including Akron, Boone, Cleveland, Columbia, Columbus, Gainesville, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Tallahassee, Warren, and Youngstown. Christopher maintains an active private guitar studio in addition to being an adjunct instructor of guitar at Chipola College and teaching assistant to world-renowned pedagogue Bruce Holzman at Florida State University. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts, which will culminate in a treatise discussing three portraits by the brilliant Brazilian composer and virtuoso Sérgio Assad. Christopher performs on a cedar top guitar by Rafael Granados.
