The Songwriter's Roundtable (April 2017)

  • to
  • The Tranzac Club

  • Join us for this month's Songwriter's Roundtable, where members provide supportive and useful feedback on each other's songs.

The roundtable will be hosted at The Tranzac Club, a Toronto hot spot for musicians, artists and poets in the Annex area of downtown Toronto.

The Tranzac is graciously giving our group the Tiki Room to hold our roundtable.

There is no admission fee, but please order a drink to support the venue.

    THE ROUNDTABLE
The roundtable is intended to provide a friendly and constructive environment to allow members to get feedback on their songwriting.

All musical genres are welcome, including pop, rock, hip hop, country, folk, instrumental, ethnic, jazz, blues, funk, R&B, experimental, spoken word, and any others.

Members who don't have a song for group feedback are still encouraged to attend. The more feedback, the better! This will also be a great opportunity for members to get to know each other.

    HOW IT WORKS
A sign-up sheet will be available with 12 slots. Sign-up when you arrive to ensure your opportunity to present! Each song will be followed by discussion and constructive feedback from the group. Each song will receive 10 to 12 minutes for presentation and critique. We'll take a 10-15 minute break after the 6th song. If there's time after 12 people, we can ask for volunteers to present a song.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
Bring one pre-recorded song, or bring a guitar to perform it live for the group. There is also an upright piano in the room for your use.  There is a sound system in the room, so you may bring your recording on a portable player (e.g. iPod, mobile phone, your own laptop). For portable players, anything with a standard headphone jack (1/8") is OK.

It's also suggested to bring copies of your lyrics that you can hand out. This allows others to better understand your song's structure and give more constructive feedback.
