Songwriters in Seattle loves its volunteers - they are the lifeblood of the organization! Whether you host an event, serve on the board of directors, post on social media, or help behind the scenes, you make a difference and we want to celebrate you! Would you like to be a volunteer and help make an impact on the local music and creative community? It's an open invitation! Come be a part of the celebration, too, and learn more about how you can get involved.
We have reserved a room at Razzi's Pizzeria in Greenwood, so we'll have some pizzas and salads ready for everyone, then have a presentation and discussion about the future of Songwriters in Seattle. Meet the current board of directors and get your questions about the organization answered. This is your best chance to get involved with Songwriters in Seattle on a deeper level!
If you're interested in joining the board of directors, know that monthly board meetings are typically held the last Tuesday of the month, 8pm on Zoom. Communication and information about them is typically handled directly through e-mail, not the group event calendar.
Discussion topics can include:
- New events and venues...what's working, what isn't, and what direction we'd like to go. For example, 2022 looks like it will start opening up live events again. What should that look like for our events? What venues are available at this point? What should stay (or be added to) online events? Who will host?
- Finances of the non-profit...budgeting, fundraising, and the best uses of the funds we have.
- Planning and organizing for our long-delayed Spring Songwriters' Retreat. A big event that spans a whole weekend! Can it happen in 2024? If we can get some people excited about it, let's start planning now.
- Affiliate opportunities (we currently have 2 other Meetups than the main SiS group)
- Future/potential projects and initiatives
- Potential partnerships with local businesses and non-profits
- Streamlining group communication and accessibility
- Website and social media activities/needs
- Flyers, business cards, banners, t-shirts, CDs...promotion and distribution
- Internship and volunteer opportunities

Couth Buzzard book store and cafe has an intimate performance space that regularly hosts music events. The SiS showcase here is a recurring event every 1st Saturday of the month.
This venue is unable to have a stage or stage lighting so it is best suited for solo artists and at most duos. We'll keep it simple and relatively low volume.
Note: Individual performance times will be determined at the venue the evening of the showcase.
Sound check and back lining gear is at 7:00 p.m.
Each performer plays for about 25 minutes.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and support even if you aren't performing. Should be a great evening!
PLEASE READ THROUGH TO THE END. Please read the "Virtual Rules" below as there are some important requirements in order for you to participate and for this to be effective. There will be no surprises if you read through.
REQUIREMENT #1-- VERY IMPORTANT!
If you are new, please make certain your meetup setting ALLOWS you to receive private messages as that is how I communicate initially. If you have it turned off, you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECEIVE MESSAGES AND I WILL REMOVE YOU FROM THE LIST TO ALLOW A WAITLISTED MEMBER TO ATTEND.
REQUIREMENT #2- YOUR SONG
A) provide a draft of your song lyric sheet in a google doc one week prior in an email I will send directly to the group (via meetup) attending. This confirms your spot and intention to show up. If I don't receive it (or any communication as to why), then you automatically forfeit your spot and I will open it up to those on the waitlist, giving them time to make plans in order to participate.
B) you need to be able to perform it live OR have a recording of it that you can play over zoom. There is a way to share a recorded track through your computer in the program which is much more effective.
Tell us what you’d like critiques of and we’ll verbally discuss only what each writer would like to hear about. It's not up to anyone in the group to make value judgments on anyone's work (it's good, it's not good). We're here to consider our songs from where they're at, with respect to the artistic work we're helping to nurture and grow.
The event is limited to 8 people. You must stay for the duration of the event as you would if you came in person. After 8 have signed up, a ‘yes’ rsvp goes on a wait list, so please don't RSVP yes to hold a spot if it's only a 50-50 chance you'll make it. NO SHOWS AND LAST MINUTE CANCELS WILL NOT HAVE PRIORITY FOR FUTURE CIRCLES.
New people and all genres and levels of music are welcome!

Songwriters in Seattle hosts a casual monthly live-streamed round robin performance via Facebook Live. Up to 8 songwriters can sign up to perform. We go for 2 hours, so depending on the number of performers, each songwriter typically gets to play 3-5 songs.

This event is hosted by Todd Christoffel and Nat Budin. It will be a supportive and positive opportunity to play your songs live with a very small group of other songwriters.
HOW IT WORKS FOR PERFORMERS
We'll be together on a Zoom call, and that Zoom call will be streamed to Facebook. We'll open the Zoom call at the hour mark for sound checks, and go live 15 minutes after that (at 7:15 Pacific time).
Please make sure you have a good quality microphone, not a tinny built-in, if possible. Some built-in mics are fine, but we can't guarantee that the audio quality will be good from a built-in microphone, so a good quality external one is always preferred.
In order to allow the most people to participate in our small number of song sharing/feedback virtual events, please limit yourself to two of this type of limited RSVP online event per month - thank you!
NOTE: Please do not RSVP yes just to hold a spot, if it's unlikely you'll make it. These events fill quickly and if you cancel at last minute, or no show, it prevents someone else from being able to come. If your plans change after a "YES" response, please let us know ASAP by changing your RSVP to 'NO' on this event page. That way a wait-listed person will be automatically added.
