What we're about

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization consisting of Greater Seattle area songwriters and musicians who hold events that foster creative development, collaboration, music education, and performance! We range in experience from those just trying their hand at songwriting to seasoned professionals. If you are looking for collaboration, promotion, live performances, increasing your skills, or just meeting other friendly local talent, come see what we have to offer and find out how your skills can benefit your fellow musicians! All lyricists, musicians, and songwriters of all levels and styles are welcome to join.

- If you are new to the group or want to find out more info about us before joining, we recommend you read the FAQ on our website at www.songwritersinseattle.com/about/faq

- If you are looking for a place to post and promote your live performances, please join our affiliate Meetup group "Fans of Live Music in Seattle" at https://www.meetup.com/fansoflivemusicinseattle

- If you're interested in the recording and producing side of making music, we would encourage you to join our affiliate Meetup group "Seattle/Tacoma Digital Audio Recording & Production" at https://www.meetup.com/seatacproducers

Our general intro and networking meeting takes place on the third Monday of each month and many other events occur throughout the month. Please see our event calendar (https://www.meetup.com/songwritersinseattle/events/calendar) for details and a list of the entire month's schedule of events. We hope to see you at our next event and welcome you to Songwriters in Seattle!

Upcoming events (4+)

Facebook live streamed song circle round robin limit of 8 songwriters

This page is where interested songwriters sign up and get a zoom link to play their songs live on facebook. Maximum of 8 songwriters will perform. If you’re just interested in viewing the event go to facebook and type in songwriters in seattle in the search box.
We will play our original songs live and alternate.
Make sure you have a good quality microphone. (not a tinny built-in)
Event will be Facebook live streamed.
This event is a casual online round robin (Zoom) get-together to share original songs. This one is hosted by Todd Christoffel and Nat Budin. It will be a supportive and positive experience. An opportunity to play your songs with a very small group of other songwriters. The group would be limited to 8 (including the hosts).

In order to allow the most people to participate in our small number of song sharing/feedback virtual events, please limit yourself to two of this type of limited RSVP online event per month - thank you!

NOTE: Please do not RSVP yes just to hold a spot, if it's unlikely you'll make it. These events fill quickly and if you cancel at last minute, or no show, it prevents someone else from being able to come. If your plans change after a "YES" response, please let us know ASAP by changing rsvp to 'NO' on this event page. That way a wait-listed person will be automatically added. Thank you for being considerate! :-)

Original Song Circle-- VIRTUAL!

Online event

Hello songwriters!

I will still hold my monthly song circle-- VIRTUAL. It's been very successful and a great way to connect with the community near and far.

Sign up and we shall hold it via a zoom group I will facilitate. Please read the "Virtual Rules" below as there are some minor and important requirements in order for you to participate and for this to be effective. Also, if you are new, please make certain your meetup setting ALLOW you to receive private messages as that is how I communicate initially. If you have it turned off, you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECEIVE MESSAGES AND I WILL REMOVE YOU FROM THE LIST TO ALLOW A WAITLISTED MEMBER TO ATTEND.

The requirements for your song:

A) provide a draft of your song lyric sheet in a google doc one week prior in an email I will send directly to the group (via meetup) attending. This confirms your spot and intention to show up. If I don't receive it (or any communication as to why), then you automatically forfeit your spot and I will open it up to those on the waitlist, giving them time to make plans in order to participate.

B) you need to be able to perform it live OR have a recording of it that you can play over zoom. There is a way to share a recorded track through your computer in Zoom which is much more effective.

Tell us what you’d like critiques of and we’ll verbally discuss only what each writer would like to hear about. It's not up to anyone in the group to make value judgments on anyone's work (it's good, it's not good). We're here to consider our songs from where they're at, with respect to the artistic work we're helping to nurture and grow.

The event is limited to 8 people. You must stay for the duration of the event as you would if you came in person. After 8 have signed up, a ‘yes’ rsvp goes on a wait list, so please don't RSVP yes to hold a spot if it's only a 50-50 chance you'll make it. NO SHOWS AND LAST MINUTE CANCELS WILL NOT HAVE PRIORITY FOR FUTURE CIRCLES.

New people and all genres and levels of music are welcome!

Looking forward to hearing your beautiful songs.

Songwriter Support Group - Zoom Edition

Online event

Hello songwriters!

We are continuing our Songwriter Support Group over Zoom and hope you will join us! This is a great chance to connect with fellow songwriters and hear what others are creating. And, as we have discovered over the past year, you can log in and share from almost anywhere!

The Zoom room will open at 6:50pm and we will start promptly at 7:00pm. Plan to login at least a couple minutes early to make sure you are there for the start of the meeting.

Looking forward to hearing your beautiful songs.

The requirements for your song:

A) If you would like us to display your lyrics while you are performing, provide a draft of your song lyric sheet in a google doc 2 days prior in an email.

B) You need to be able to perform it live OR have a recording of it that you can play over Zoom. There is a way to share a recorded track through your computer in the program which is much more effective. If you have questions about this please contact me at least 48 hours ahead of the meeting.
