What: Sonoma County Naturalists are invited to join Dan Levitis for a short hike and light-trapping insects on the evening of July 2nd on the lands of Sonoma Developmental Center (SDC). A nearly moonless night, it should be excellent for attracting phototactic insects.

Most of the land we will be passing through is slated to become part of Jack London State Park within the next few years, and so State Parks is interested in what we observe.

Dan Levitis is organizing an iNaturalist project of SDC lands (partly for State Parks use). use of iNaturalist is entirely optional.

When: Meet at 7:30 p.m. to hike up to Fern Lake along Orchard Rd. Sundown is at 8:40, and we will aim to hike back down about 10:30-11 p.m.

Where:
15000 Arnold Dr.
Eldridge, CA 95431

There is parking behind (to the west of) the main brick building.

We will meet near the SDC main building at 7:30 p.m. and hike up to Fern Lake along Orchard Rd.

Bring:
Whatever you need for safely hiking back in the dark (sturdy foot-wear, head-lamp/flashlight, walking sticks, etc.).
