High Cardio Shiloh Ridge II and Reverse Back Loop (Moderate!) MORNING TRIP

A Double Loop version of our High Cardio Ridge Shiloh hike - it will provide a workout!

We will be doing our Wednesday evening trip during the morning hours so that others can do the hike.

This trek through Shiloh covers it all. This is not a beginner's ramble! If you are just starting out hiking, please consider the 'standard' or Vista Shiloh hike or a Foothill hike. This time we will loop up and into the park twice on an effective 'double loop', but with very minimal overlap on our loops.

In a counter clock-wise direction from the parking lot, we will head up the Big Leaf trail, but branch off of this to the back Canyon Trail, taking us along a narrow path through the deep oaks of back Shiloh. Climbing out of the canyon we will head left at the "T", as we head to the pond (look for frogs) and down Creekside Trail, nearly to the parking area. But as Creekside trail hits Ridge, up we go up the parks steepest climb, this time past the Vista point. From the top, we will then head back down Big Leaf, returning to our starting point.

Total distance add up to about 6.3 miles with an elevation gain of around 1,200 feet (a guess).  This will take us us about 2+ hours.  It's a great way get a good solid workout in and still have the rest of the day to do other things.

It's a short hike, but as always it is a good idea to come prepared with the following:

  • Water
  • Sunblock/Hat
  • Layered clothing - even if it is a warm day, sometimes it cools off quickly as the sun gets low and our coastal climate moves in.
  • Comfortable walking shoes

FYI - There is a $7.00 parking fee, but there is ample street parking adjacent to the park entrance.
