This is a rare opportunity to take part in an on-location workshop with one of the world’s most highly acclaimed photographers, William Albert Allard while shooting with Sony's mirrorless powerhouse camera system, the Sony A7 III. During this experience, participants will have access to photograph the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth - The Calgary Stampede. Spend a full day at the Stampede Grounds capturing photos of everything the Stampede has to offer from behind the scenes to the midway. The main focus of this workshop is to create images that reflect your creative vision. Allard will guide you on how to ‘see’ photographic moments, achieve great compositions while capturing essential details. This workshop will also be followed by a valuable critique session where you, William Albert Allard and the group will review the images captured on-location. Sony Canada has partnered with The Camera Store to provide this experience giving each participant a Sony A7 III and a Sony FE[masked]mm F4 G OSS to work with during the workshop along with a series of lens choices that will be available on-site. One of the few photographers of his generation whose entire professional body of work is in color, he has contributed to National Geographic Society publications since 1964 as a staff, free-lance and contract photographer and writer. Over his career at National Geographic, Allard has contributed to 42 articles as a photographer as well as a number of National Geographic books. He has written eight articles for the magazine. His most recent articles for the Magazine are "Rodeos: Behind the Chutes," “India’s Untouchables,” “The Marais of Paris,” and “Bollywood,” “Hunters,” and “Hutterite Soujourn,” and “Hunters.” In addition to National Geographic, Allard has been published in most major USA and European publications and has photographed in about 25 countries. The son of a Swedish immigrant, Allard was born in Minneapolis in 1937 and studied at the Minneapolis School of Fine Arts and the University of Minnesota.

He will give you some tips to improve your wildlife photography and will highlight ways that you could incorporate Sony equipment into your wildlife photography workflow. In addition, to the family travels, Kyle and his family support several organizations that foster and rehabilitate orphaned or injured wildlife. This workshop uses a single violin player as the subject to teach the proper way to record great audio, close-up camera angles, and even how to light your subject. Using the musical artist gives us a great platform to teach better camera angles, lens choices and even what camera would be a great choice for your project. There's so much to shoot at this event you won't know where to start, but working with Sony video experts we'll have a shooting plan in place and all of the latest Sony video gear on hand so you can learn tips from the pros. Who should attend? This workshop is considered an Intermediate Workshop and is open to those videographers currently using Sony cameras and those who are interested in trying the cameras before making a purchase. We'll be shooting video with the Sony A7SM2, RX10M2 cameras. We will have a selection of lenses on hand for the workshop but expect the SEL28135G video lens to be the standard go-to lens.   • October weekend in the Rockies to shoot the fall colours! (Saturday)

    Let's head out to the mountain parks and catch the fall colours before the snow flies! We'll head out Saturday morning and work through several locations in Kananaskis Park. We'll meet at Wedge Pond in the morning, and move on from there. Please feel free to suggest locations you'd like to visit in the park. As always, if there's any Sony gear you'd like to try out, please let me know in advance.
