[20 Going so far - Booking Essential] - Suitable Soulful walk for those with a moderate level of fitness, if in doubt, please call - Route on offer – Table Mountains Big 5 Dams Trail up Via Cecilia Forest. This is one of the easier routes heading up to the top of Table Mountain from Cecilia Forest, as we follow the trail on the back of Table Mountain past the Overseer’s Cottage on the Jeep track on a circular route past the dam and heading back via the trail just above Nursery Ravine. We will then head done Cecilia Ridge. If the Water Works Museum is open, we will also visit it that is located next to the Hely-Hutchinson Dam (1904) – there is also a locomotive inside. This trail will certainly offer some spectacular contrasting views. => If you can walk up Lions Head with ease, then this walk will be suitable for you – Sunday – 16th July 2017 @ 8.30am - [10.25km] - Finished time of walk @ approx 5pm ==> TRAIL MAP ROUTE – https://www.mapometer.com/walking/route_4568254.html

We will walk past the five dams on top of Table Mountain on top, that offer some stunning scenic views along the route. The dams, include, The Woodhead, Hely-Hutchinson, De Villiers, Alexandria and Victoria - are all on the mountain’s back table, the first of which was built as early as 1890, as the demand for water in the city increase.

PLEASE NOTE THE START TIME OF 8.30AM – I have added more time for this walk for breaks , as there is so much see on route.

Connecting like-minded people in a sense of community who share similar soulful interests out in nature ;-)

HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS WALK ON OFFER

-------------------------------------------------------

@ The awesome views on route

@ Explore the Big 5 dams on route

@ Visit the Water Works Museum if it is open. It offers a fascinating history of the area

==================================>

@ -- This is a reminder and very important when joining any of the hikes on offer, don’t forget your water, this should be at least 2 litres and more if it is a hot day. What to wear on the hike. Comfortable hiking clothes (trousers / shorts). In winter long pants are preferable due to the change of temperatures. Jersey or fleecy top. As the weather often heats up during the day, it is good to wear clothes that you can layer on or off. Pack extra, thinner tops as gusty wind can cause the temperature to change quite dramatically. In summer a peak cap for the sun, in a winter beanie or buff and gloves just in case and very important a rain coat no matter the weather conditions, as this also acts as a wind breaker. Remember a warm hiker is a happy hiker ;-) --- being cold or wet on route affects you and the group adversely.

==================================>

WHAT IS ON OFFER ;-)

What is on offer is a soulful nature experience with like-minded people, with lots of extra time allocated to breaks to appreciate the beauty of our surroundings, a morning tea break on route, our lunch break, our swimming break and quiet time out in nature for reflection on our return route after lunch.

==================================>

==> ROUTE TRAIL DESCRIPTION

For this walk we will be doing the Table Mountains Big 5 Dams Trail up Via Cecilia Forest. This is one of the easier routes heading up to the top of Table Mountain from Cecilia Forest. Here we then follow the jeep track past the Alexandra dam [1903], the Victoria Dam [1896], Woodhead Dam [1897 and on to the Hely-Hutchinson Dam [1904]. If the Water Works Museum is open, we will also visit it that is located next to the Hely-Hutchinson Dam. From here we will go through Nursery Valley on the top back to the Overseers Cottage. PLEASE NOTE THE NEW CANCELLATION POLICY.

Due to the large numbers of no shows, especially on the day of the walk or the night before. Should in future any one cancel less than 24 hours before a walk, then on joining the next walk 50% of the walk fee will be added on to the next walk amount charged. This is especially where people booked one or two friends and they don’t show or cancel, then the person booking will be liable for the extra amount on the next walk per person. The only conditions that affect this if you cancel, if there is a forecast of rain on the day of the walk or if you emailed or send a sms that you are sick and the reason.

===================================>

Please note that when booking. If you are not sure that you can commit to the walk on the day, then pls mark yourself as not going.

My 3 x listing combined are over 4500 people and events are popular and tend to fill up quickly. The reason that I am structuring it this way is that people who do want to join get turned away because the event is full and that is most unfair for them, when booked people do not arrive. It is impossible for me to follow up each person individually and the responsibility of marking yourself appropriately lies with each member. If you do change your mind please update your status or on the day send me a whatapp or a sms only.

Please do read the instructions in full as it contains all the relevant instructions for the hike, for example, meeting time, what to bring, fitness, and starting point. For future in my group those who have not let me know prior to the walk starting, will be removed from the walk listing.

===================================>

This meet-up group forms part my websites - http://www.intuitionwalks.com and www.awakening-intuition.com (http://www.awakening-intuitio.com) and the online Facebook section – https://www.facebook.com/groups/intuitionwalks . I have been offering these walks since 2003 and with a subscriber list in Cape Town of over 4500 people, this group offers a great alternative to meeting like-minded people.

===================================>

A reminder for those who have not been on the walks before, the walks are intended to be of such a nature that we are able to slow down and through our senses, experience some of the wonders that nature has to offer. The slowing down creates an opportunity for re-connection within. Not to mention seeing some of Cape Town’s magical spots. Normally 2 hours of the time allocated is set aside for breaks. This time out offers a great way to meet and connect with like-minded soulful people who share similar interests

===================================>

==> DURATION OF WALK - [10.55km] -- Start @ 8.30am - Return time @ aprox 5pm

Approximately 7 hours - (please note that these times may vary) with sufficient time to stop along the way. 2 hours of the allocated time is set aside for breaks and to explore the wonders of nature. This walk will be a walk suitable for those with a moderate minimum level of fitness, but the pace will not be hurried.....Bring along something to eat for DINNER, comfortable walking shoes, a hat and/or beanie (for the wind) sun block, a jersey, a rain coat if you have and sufficient water (NB at least 2.5 Litres of water)

This is for those that are concerned about fitness in joining.

We cover the same routes as most other groups, but take longer as more time is allocated to breaks (Normally about 2 hours during the day). This extra time provides is a day out in nature, time to connect with the beauty of nature, including plenty of opportunity for taking pictures. Our mission is to provide an enjoyable day out in nature and meet like-minded soulful people. As group safety are paramount, we walk at the pace of the slowest person, (without any pressure). There is always an experienced hiker at the rear to assist anyone who is struggling and ensure no-one is left behind. We have first aid kits as well as at least 2 x two-way radios on all the walks to enable communication between leader and the person covering the rear at all times.

This is the perfect group you if are a beginner, with every second walk suitable for all levels of fitness and this will give you a chance to build up fitness levels. I also do not repeat a hiking route within a 12 month cycle, which offers an expanded range of walks on offer. If hike is more strenuous or exposed, this will be communicated in the walk description, indicated by comparing against popular hikes (for example Lions Head)

===================================>

==> WHAT TO BRING ALONG & SAFETY GUIDELINES

*These are requirements are for all walks if you wish to join, as your safety affects the whole group*

@ -- Most important - proper footwear. This being comfortable walking shoes (hiking boots for ankle support) or a good pair of running shoes. Please no crocs or sandals and do not come on a walk without any shoes or bare feet. You need to have a decent grip on the trail, as your safety affects the whole group. Also bring along a black bag to sit on in winter to keep your pants dry, if the grass or rocks are wet.

@ -- Bring along something to eat for the tea break and lunch, trail snacks / fresh fruit, juice or flask for tea / coffee or cup a soup in winter. Sunblock very important and don’t forget your water, this should be at least 2 litres and more if it is a hot day. En route you should be drinking at least 1 full cup every 60min.

@ -- What to wear on the hike. Comfortable hiking clothes (trousers / shorts). In winter long pants are preferable due to the change of temperatures. Jersey or fleecy top. As the weather often heats up during the day, it is good to wear clothes that you can layer on or off. Pack extra thinner tops as gusty wind can cause the temperature to change quite dramatically. Remember a Warm hiker is a happy hiker ;-). In summer a peak cap for the sun, in a winter beanie or buff and gloves just in case and very important a rain coat no matter the weather conditions, as this also acts as a wind breaker.

@ -- A backpack (or daypack) to carry your supplies. A backpack with a hip belt is ideal; it allows the strong bones of your pelvis to support the pack's weight, easing the load on your shoulders.

@ -- As this is a group walk, stay with the group and for the entire duration of the hike. We depart and arrived as a group, this is non-negotiable regarding anyone leaving early.

***Please note that no dogs are allowed on any of the walks that are on offer.”

Normally 2 hours of the time allocated is set aside for breaks. This time out offers a great way to meet and connect with like-minded people who share similar interests

===================================>
