Need motivation or support in getting your words on paper or selling them? Writers write, but sometimes it's difficult to keep the words flowing and/or maintain confidence in your work. Our weekly Writers Workshops can provide the focus you need. Participants are encouraged to bring 5-10 new pages of material each week to share and receive real-time constructive feedback within a supportive critique framework.

This workshop is primarily intended as a safe venue for writers to air their work and receive constructive feedback. Participants are encouraged to share ~1,800 words (5-10 pages based on a standard 250 words/pg). Our target is about an 8-minute read per author, followed by 4-5 minutes of supportive comment.

Please bring a laptop or tablet with you (along with charger if needed) to access shared material.

It is the author's choice to either:

(a) Read their own material out loud for the group;

(b) Have another group member read the material out loud;

(c) Distribute copies for members to read; and/or

(d) Share a PDF of your material*.

* You may either bring a PDF of your material on a USB memory stick OR upload the PDF directly into the appropriate dated folder (such as "[masked]") on our shared Dropbox folder ("SouthBayWriters"). In addition to the dated workshop folders, each participant also has been given their own folder for longer-term general storage.

[If you haven't already been invited to access the shared Dropbox folders, you may receive a separate request to provide an email address for Dropbox access.]

For the Monday Workshops, doors open at 1:15pm so folks can say hello, grab their beverage of choice, and allow us to actually get underway at 1:30pm. We like to respect everyone's busy schedule and honor the time dedicated to reads & feedback.

An assortment of chilled soft drinks, water, and snacks are available for purchase. You do not have to buy anything, but, of course, supporting our host is encouraged.

Starting in January 2019, a suggested donation of $1 for each meeting attended will be greatly appreciated. These funds will be used to offset our expenses with meetup.com
