We are seeking new group members.
*Please read regarding our format and how to apply to join us *
The Tuesday Nite Group meets weekly in the South Bay to discuss and critique each member's unpublished creative work. Yeah, we're serious when it comes to writing, but we have plenty of fun too. We’re open to genre fiction, non-fiction or poetry. Not included are blog posts, screenplays, or resumes.
Prior to each meeting, each member uploads a drafted portion of their work to our file sharing site. (approx. 2,000 words each) Each member reads all submissions and provides specific comments in writing before the meeting. At the meeting, we discuss each submission for clarifications, questions, and ideas, in a relaxed, supportive environment. Though it’s rare, there are times when members may have Eight submissions to critique before a meeting.
New Member Requirements:
Our invitation goes out to those who are currently working on or starting a specific project. At an applicant's first meeting, they may share, out loud,[masked] words of their project. If they’d prefer to sit back and see how we operate, that’s fine too, but there is an expectation they will share their work at the next meeting.
How to Apply:
First, the applicant must place themselves on the WAITLIST for the meeting date they'd like to attend. Because we must restrict the number of group members, we keep the waitlist on at all times. Even group members place themselves there first before being accepted. It’s a silly system, but our best option given the limited functionality of Meetup. Don’t worry about going on there- it’s no big deal.
Second, please send a message to the group host, J.Y. Olmos, and state that you read and understand the group requirements above. Both steps are required. It is highly recommended that you have your profile filled out completely.
It’s a great opportunity to meet some nice people and be productive. We look forward to hearing from you.
