Fremont Older ~ Beginner Friendly Ride

  • Sep 10, 2013 · 4:45 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This will be an easy, slow pace for everyone to get out to ride. It will be about 6-7 miles, 60-90 minutes, and beginner friendly. If you've been riding around local trails like Guadalupe, Baylands, or Los Gatos Creek but want to try some hills and some singletrack, this is your chance to progress. Relaxed riders of any level are welcome, but the beginners will determine the pace.

I reserve the right to cancel the ride if less than 4 people are listed as Attending at the time RSVPs close.

Meet at the Fremont Older Preserve parking lot on Prospect Road in Cupertino by the information sign. Arrive early as the parking lot does fill up fast. Hope everyone will join me for a fun ride. Bring water and be sure your bike is ready to ride.

Tires roll at 4:55 PM or sooner if all YES RSVP's are present.

Ride Details
Difficulty as noted in my Mtn Biking guide book is: "Easy to moderate, with smooth wide trails for beginners and a few short single-tracks. On my scale of 1-5, 1 being easy - this may be a level 2 ride.

Remember, all riders need to be members of & South Bay Mountain Bike Group. Guest are no longer allowed. All riders need to RSVP as a member.

Exit Highway 85 at De Anza Boulevard. (From northbound Hwy. 85 turn left on De Anza Blvd. and from southbound Hwy. 85 turn right on De Anza Blvd.) Travel west on De Anza Blvd. (toward the mountains) for about 0.5 miles. Turn right on Prospect Rd. Then at the first stop sign, turn left and cross the railroad tracks to remain on Prospect Rd. Follow Prospect Road uphill for 1.3 miles, turning left after the Saratoga Country Club, until you reach the preserve parking lot.

Rain will cancel. I will post a weather update here by 8 AM the day of the ride.

***Please remember, a helmet is required for all our rides***

Fun ride! Great group as usual. Nice seeing Michael and David out there after a few weeks absence. And Eugene- way to stick it out! Disappointed in the late No RSVP and the no show, as we had two folks waiting. Saw Yessenia on the trails anyway, so at least she got a ride in despite not getting on the ride.

Beginner friendly as promised. Eugene did excellent as a newbee and Michelle did an excellent job making him feel a part of the SBMBG CULTURE. DDIVAL and I enjoyed dicing it up.A fun group! Look forward to ride again as we progress with this difficult physical endeavor.

Fun ride! Thanks for towing me along, guys and gals. :D I took a couple of panorama photos, one from Nob Hill and one from Hunter's Point; I'll post them up here when I have a chance.
