Monte Bello Late Afternoon Ride

Let's Ride!

Monte Bello is gorgeous in the late afternoon. We will ride the White Oak Trail, and up the Indian Creek Trail to the top of Black Mountain. Indian Creek is a tough 1-mile climb, so this is not a beginner ride. However, we will ride at a moderate pace.

Even if it's sunny and warm down in the valley, it can be cold (foggy, windy) up on the ridge, so bring layers.

Tires roll at 3:08 PM from the Monte Bello parking lot.

RSVPing YES for a ride and not showing will get you moved to the wait list on the next ride you do wish to go on. Please be courteous and drop out early enough to give the more reliable riders a chance to adjust their schedules and attend.

Monte Bello is located about a 25 min drive up Page Mill Road near the top at Skyline. If you reach the Stop sign at Skyline, you went too far. It is about 1-2 miles before Skyline on the left. Watch for the sign. We will regroup as needed. Bring extra water. A helmet is required for all rides. Be sure to have your bike ready to ride.

Remember, all riders need to be members of & South Bay Mountain Bike Group. Guest are no longer allowed. All riders need to RSVP as a member.

Ride details:

Difficulty as noted in my Mtn Biking guide book is: "Moderate with a few challenging climbs". On my scale of 1 -5, 1 being easy - I will say this may be a, Level 2-3 ride.

If you're not sure where you are going or think you will be late, please leave earlier. It is not fair to have everyone else wait while you get ready to ride.

Bring extra water and food. A Spare tire tube and a chain master link should also be in your supply pack.

A helmet is required for all our rides.

Be sure to have your bike ready to ride before you arrive.

As organizer, I will reserve the right to change your RSVP should I feel you're not ready for this ride location or you have been a no show on past rides. RSVP priority will be given to current members in good standing.
