Ray's Birthday Ride @ Wilder Ranch

Come and celebrate with me, this will be another great ride at one of my favorite parks.

This will be an advanced beginner to intermediate ride.

Meet at 11:30 AM in the main parking lot. There are restrooms there also. We will then ride to the tunnel under Highway 1. If you park in the Wilder Ranch parking lot, there is a fee to park. I recommend to pay the parking fee in support of our and the use of the state parks.

Tires roll at 11:45 AM or as soon as all YES RSVP's are present.
Please be there by the meet time, we don't want to leave without you!

This is a great opportunity to explore and enjoy the abundance of trails in this corner of the world.

Where: Wilder Ranch State Park, Hwy 1, just north of Santa Cruz

Please remember to wear a helmet, bring water, a snack, and check that your bike is ready to ride. Also remember to carry an extra tube and a chain master link with you that fits your bike. Its ok if you need help to repair it, you will have the items needed to keep your ride going.

Rain up to 48 hours before will cancel this ride. I will post an update by 8 AM.

Now that, my friends, was an epic ride. Next time we do something of this length I'm brining 2x as much water and a snack, but it was so fun and the weather (less occasional gusts of wind) was perfect. "Burger" was a great finish. Happy Birthday Ray!

If anyone's hungry after the ride ... Taqueria Vallarta on Mission is a great place to re-fuel on some awesome Mexican cuisine ... :)

My car is still broken, suspension bits are on order. My current plan is to take the 22 bus from Palo Alto to San Jose and then hop on the 17 Express to Santa Cruz and ride out to Wilder on the trail that follows highway 1; unless of course anyone is planning to drive through Palo Alto that can handle an extra bike + passenger. I can help pay for gas and I have a roof rack that will fit round bars (or square if I can find the adapter.)

Also, is there a post ride lunch plan or anything?

I checked the weather tonight, it should be near 70 degrees this weekend and clear on the coast. Lets Ride!

Hi Alice, this ride may be about 10 miles and good for an advanced beginner level and above. On my 1 - 5 scale, I would say its a 2 to 3 in places. However, the views are awesome!

What's the level of difficulty? How many miles? Happy birthday, Ray!
