This will be a mellow pace for everyone to get out to ride. It will be about 6-7 miles, 1 1/2-2 hours. If you've been riding around local trails like Guadalupe, Baylands, or Los Gatos Creek, you feel comfortable using your shifters and brakes, and you want to try some hills and some singletrack, this is your chance to progress. Relaxed riders of any level are welcome, but the slower folks (up or down) will determine the overall pace.
I reserve the right to cancel the ride if less than 4 people are listed as Attending at the time RSVPs close.
Meet at the Fremont Older Preserve parking lot on Prospect Road in Cupertino by the information sign. Arrive early as the parking lot does fill up fast. Hope everyone will join me for a fun ride. Bring water and be sure your bike is ready to ride.
Tires roll at 4:40 PM or sooner if all YES RSVP's are present.
Difficulty as noted in my Mtn Biking guide book is: "Easy to moderate, with smooth wide trails for beginners and a few short single-tracks. On my scale of 1-5, 1 being easy - this may be a level 2 ride.
Remember, all riders need to be members of Meetup.com & South Bay Mountain Bike Group. Guests are no longer allowed. All riders need to RSVP as a member.
Exit Highway 85 at De Anza Boulevard. (From northbound Hwy. 85 turn left on De Anza Blvd. and from southbound Hwy. 85 turn right on De Anza Blvd.) Travel west on De Anza Blvd. (toward the mountains) for about 0.5 miles. Turn right on Prospect Rd. Then at the first stop sign, turn left and cross the railroad tracks to remain on Prospect Rd. Follow Prospect Road uphill for 1.3 miles, turning left after the Saratoga Country Club, until you reach the preserve parking lot.
Rain will cancel. I will post a weather update here by 8 AM the day of the ride.
