  • Progressive Presents: Donald Lutz - Event Sourcing Using Microservices
Event sourcing involves modeling the state changes made by applications as an immutable sequence or log of events. Instead of modifying the state of the application in-place, event sourcing involves storing the event that triggers the state change in an immutable log and modeling the state changes as responses to the events in the log. ASP.NET Core Microservices will be used with Marten / Postgres and Kafka to demonstrate event sourcing and data streaming. Bio: Donald Lutz - I am the Director of Software Engineering at Flexential. Accomplished Director of Software Engineering and Solutions Architect with an enormous depth and breadth in Microsoft architecture as well as having over 20 years’ experience in designing and building large enterprise systems. Specializes in providing companies’ real-world cloud solutions implemented using Actors, ASP.NET Core, functional languages, and Kafka to build integrated, choreographed microservices using AWS, Azure and Docker. • TEKsystems Presents: Ben Hoelting - ASP.NET Razor Pages and the MVVM Pattern
Today ASP.NET MVC applications require quite a bit of convention and understanding just to create a simple Hello World application. Many times, you simply want to create a page and navigate to it. Simple, right? Wrong, using MVC this requires a controller, a view, an understanding of routing and the conventions put in place by ASP.NET MVC. Razor pages are a new concept currently in the early stages of development by the ASP.NET team. The idea is to use the Razor syntax outside the boundaries of ASP.NET MVC. This allows web developers to implement a clean MVVM pattern for basic and complex ASP.NET Core applications. This session will introduce Razor pages and demonstrate how to use them with the MVVM pattern. Ben is a software guy with “people skills”. He loves software and technology but also enjoys sports, movies and spending time with his wife and three children. In truth, he’s just a big kid. He loves designing systems that solve real world problems. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing something you helped develop being used by the end users. Ben joined the IT industry in 1996 as an intern and has worked with .NET since its inception back in 2001. This has given him the experience of a senior level full stack .NET developer. He is an experienced speaker and presents at the Visual Studio Live conferences all around the country. He loves sharing his experiences with developing software. Ben is a Microsoft MVP in Visual Studio Development Technologies and a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) for Web and Windows .NET 4.0. His twitter stream is at http://twitter.com/benhnet.
