What we're about

This group is for any lesbians that enjoy being outside in the countryside. Most activities will be outdoors, however, if something sounds like fun we may be tempted inside!

Bioblitz

Staunton Farm

So this is your chance to join together and support the wildlife across the UK. We are going to spend the weekend camping, enjoying each others company, making new friends, and being amazingly useful to the future of wild beasts across the UK. You can of course dip in and out throughout the weekend as you choose. Bioblitz is where a group of people gather and find as many species of wildlife that they can in a pre-described zone. The purpose is to find out what is living where throughout the UK and this helps experts plan to support various species as needed. It also helps identify what is rare in that area but also if there are any new, aggressive species from abroad likely to upset existing wildlife. It is a vital exercise so it is a privilege to be part of it. We are going to search an area of land which is both ancient and unrecorded so we may have many important finds! It also stretches for many acres across amazing woodlands and parkland. It has a huge pond so we will also identify fish and pond life. Do not fear, there will be many experts available to help with identification, to give walks where you can ask questions, and also they can help you learn how to trap various species safely! We will look at massive species such a huge veteran trees, down to a teeny tiny little bug on a tiny flower - all make up our ecosystem and allow us to survive. You can arrive on the Friday night and camp through until the Sunday, or you can dip in and out throughout the event as your weekend allows. We will have our own camping area where dogs (well behaved) and children (well behaved lol) will be welcome. Just to note that we will not be the only group attending this event. Please make sure you bring appropriate clothing, you will all look stunning whatever you are wearing, but you will look odd if you are wet and cold - yes it is possible even in July! Please also wear appropriate shoes - leave your clubbing stilettos at home lol! Walking boots and wellies may be needed if weather demands but please do not think open toed shoes is good for exploring as long grass hide cheeky creatures and brambles tear toes! We do ask that you do not drink during the day as this is an important event for everyone to enjoy and it is about the taking part, not about the getting p*ssed. You will also need to provide your own food and drink - however, there is no charge for taking part or for camping! I don't think there are shops within walking distance but there is a small cafe and a visitor farm. I will add more details as we get nearer the event.
