How HPC, AI, and Big Data are Transforming Business Today
Our speaker will be: Michael Echavarría Sr. Managed Services Engineer Penguin Computing This talk will introduce the topics of High Performance Computing (HPC), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Big Data at a high level and explain how you can leverage these heavily related fields to provide a transformative impact on business results. We will also explore some successful applications of these technologies both by Penguin Computing customers and other industry leaders. Finally, we'll delve into the hardware, software, cloud technologies, and Linux distributions that drive development in these fields, and provide resources for getting started with learning and applying AI/HPC in your own environment. Penguin is a 20-year-old advanced scale hardware solutions provider. They develop open, Linux-based cloud and HPC solutions ranging from Linux servers and workstation to integrated HPC cluster and cluster management software. Increasingly enterprise- and AI-focused, the company said that between 30 and 40 percent of its business is AI-related. Overall, Penguin has an installed base of more than 18,000 systems in 40+ countries at customer sites that include NASA, AOL, Caterpillar, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Life Technologies and the U.S. Navy. In the HPC world, Penguin three years ago won a $39 million contract for a nearly 10-petaflops (aggregate) deployment with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration.

What we're about

FLUX is a group of Linux users, enthusiasts, beginners and developers who come together about once each month for interesting discussions and programs.
FLUX was established in September 1997 and has been holding regular meetings ever since. We are fortunate to have several Friend & Sponsor companies who provide refreshments, meeting space and other resources that allow us to keep the group free for everyone. The group is open to the public and we hope you will join us!
