What we're about

Pinball Players & Collectors, Retro / Classic and Current Arcade Video Game Players. People interested in meeting up at Retro Arcades, Arcade Bars, Pinball Tournaments, Casual Playing, etc. Although we are into them, this group is not focused on gaming consoles or computer games as there are likely other meetups about those. Our focus is getting out, discovering new locations and games, socializing, making new friends while having fun.

If you want to compete in pinball tournaments, here's a list of what's happening in Florida:

Pinball Tournament Flip Frenzy 12/6 at Pinball Dudes in Jupiter (Open To All)

Open to everyone, beginners and competitors, individuals, couples and even the little pinball wizards in the family. Happens on the 1st Tuesday of every month. This is #10 of the 2022 Pinball Tournament series at the Pinball Dudes. Practice starts at 5 pm although that's entirely optional. It's totally free to practice and even just to play without entering the tournament. So long as you show up a few minutes before 7 pm you can participate in the tournament.

If you'd like to participate in the Tournament, it's only $5 for the entire night and includes free Pizza and Soft Drinks / Water during the break.

FORMAT:
This is a "Flip Frenzy" format which means you'll play one person at a time on various games for about 2.5 hours. Players paired randomly each round along with the pinball machine by the tournament software. In other words you'll play many people of various experience levels and on many different machines. 20 - 30 different pinball machines available. Wins/Losses kept on the big screen (and available to see on your cell phone). At the end of the qualifying period, top 4 players make the finals for match play.

Never played in a pinball tournament? Rusty? New? No problem! Come on out and we will show you the ropes. Tournaments are for fun (but also are for "IFPA Points" (IFPA is the pinball sanctioning organization that keeps track of competitive player rankings and holds state and national pinball championships - yes, that's a "thing"!). Tournament format and "rules" explained at the start.

Where else can you get this amount of entertainment for five bucks (plus the pizza!).

IMPORTANT:
Tournament starts promptly at 7 PM. Unless you call and ask to be added to the tournament, late entries beyond about 15 minutes unfortunately cannot be accommodated due to the software and format (if you are late, you simply forfeit any match you aren't there for until the 4th round at which point late players are disqualified from play altogether).

Bring a friend, the more the merrier. Live in Broward or Miami? While Jupiter is a bit of a drive that's not an excuse for half the players who drive up from the South. Just check your GPS to make sure you'll make it in time and we will see you there.

ATTENDANCE COUNT NOTE:
The number of participants typically ranges from 15-25 for most of these weekday evening tournaments. This meetup is just one way of promoting awareness of them so if you only see 1 or a small number of RSVP's here, that doesn't mean no one is going. These events are always held and have a solid recurring number of players. Often we will update Attendee counts on meetup after each event to what the total of all who attended (meetup RVSP + others). This helps everyone know how many actually attended in total for each past event. If for any reason this event is postponed, it will be posted here so check before you leave to be extra sure.

IFPA SANCTIONED:
IFPA (International Flipper Pinball Association) is the organization that lists pinball events and player rankings. This event IS sanctioned so you will receive an IFPA Player # if you don't have one, and receive participation points based on finishing order. This is all free. If you want to learn more visit ifpapinball dot com. The Florida tournament list can be found at https://www.ifpapinball.com/series/nacs/2022/standingsView.php?l=FL#uptour

Wed Dec 7 - Glitch Bar in Ft Laud Pinball Tournament (Open To All, 24 Max)

Glitch Arcade Bar in Ft Lauderdale is hosting its next pinball tournament on Wed Dec 7 another IFPA sanctioned event for IFPA WPPR Points (used in Florida and World Pinball Player Rankings).

Open to everyone over 21 years of age, beginners and competitors, individuals and couples. This is on a WEDNESDAY and the format is "match play" meaning when there are 4 players on a machine it is 7,5,3,1 scoring so whoever comes in 1st gets 7 points, 2nd 5 points etc. It will go 7 rounds OR however many rounds complete by 10:30 pm-11pm time frame as determined by the Tournament Director. This format allows everyone to play all the rounds no matter how good or bad you do. Points are added up after the final round. Plenty of arcade machines are at Glitch so anyone out of the pinball tournament has plenty of fun still to have.

This event is limited to 24 players, so arrive early as it is "first registered, first served" as they cannot take RSVPs for logistical reasons.

Registration begins at 6 pm, tournament will begin around 7 pm. So it is important to be there before the start to ensure you get a spot.

Doors open at 5 pm for practice (Glitch has no cover but to play pinball it's standard $1 game or $2 for 3 games) although practicing is entirely optional. Entrants can be added after we start but you'll end up with fewer points if you miss matches (assuming max capacity was not reached earlier). The event runs a few hours using this format.

If you'd like to participate in the Tournament, it's only $5 plus "coin drop" meaning the minimal cost to play each game (typically about $1 each). All entry fees returned in the prize pool to the top few competitors. Pinball machines chosen randomly by the tournament software. In other words you'll play many people of various experience levels and on many different machines. At least 6 different pinball machines available:

Rush
Total Nuclear Annihilation
Godzilla
The Mandalorean
Avengers Infinity Quest
Star Wars Pro
Metallica
Iron Maiden
Deadpool
Star Trek Pro
Stranger Things

Wins/Losses kept on the big screen (and available to see on your cell phone). Top several players will win what's in the prize pool.

Never played in a pinball tournament? Rusty? New? No problem! Come on out and we will show you the ropes.

Tournament format and "rules" explained at the start of the event.
