What we're about

Hello wine tasters!

And welcome to the South London Wine School meetup group. We are a professional wine tasting company, running weekly events in Greenwich. Quite simply, we love wine and want to help everyone enjoy their own vino experience just a little bit more!

All tastings are open to people of all levels of experience, so if you've never tasted a wine before, or if you have had a bit of practice there will be something you will take from it. In fact most of the people who come to our events have never been to a wine tasting before, so we know it can seem a bit intimidating. But everyone is in the same boat, and has pretty much the same questions or queries, and generally leaves with a greater understanding of wine, and some new friends!

So if you have always wanted to know a little more about the delicious liquid in your wine glass but have never been sure where to start, then this is the place for you! Join the group, check out our events and see what takes your fancy.

We will also run free social events for people to meet and get to know each other outside of the tastings. So keep an eye out!

If you the is anything else you want to know along the way please do get in touch, our resident wine expert Julia is always happy to answer any booze related (or not booze related!) questions.

Champagne and Sparkling Wine Tasting in Beckenham

The Chancery (Beckenham)

£30.00

Our first event in Beckenham in 2019 and as such it is only right it should be an evening of wine tasting decadence! This 2 hour evening tasting is all about celebrating some of the world's very best sparkling wines. We all know about the glorious wines of Champagne (and we'll be reminding ourselves with at least two this evening...!), but there are some truly amazing sparklers from just about every corner of the wine producing world. So we'll try a variety of wines from around the world such as the ever popular and eminently glubbable, peachy Prosecco alongside a top-notch vintage Cava, and a New World Champagne lookalike that will give many of its more illustrious French compatriots a run for their money! We'll compare these with a sparkling wine from the South of England, an area that's building a serious reputation for itself on the international stage. And to finish off we've got something a bit more unusual - a red sparkling wine! This is an evening of celebration, with some fabulous wines and to help you relax. What's included? A tutored tasting of 6 top quality sparkling wines including 2 Champagnes Nibbles to match the wines Learn all about how sparkling wines are made and why Champagne is so special Full tasting notes and tips on where to get the best bubbly deals Professional ISO tasting glasses

Spain part 1 - Eastern and Central

The Mitre

On the first of two evenings exploring the diversity of Spanish wines we will be looking at the Eastern and Central parts of Spain. Here we're going to start the evening with some Cava, Spain's answer to Champagne! A sparkling wine which may have been overshadowed of late but we've got an excellent example to start with. We'll also look at some white and red wines from the lesser known regions that extend along the Mediterranean coast, including some aromatic whites and intensely flavoured reds. We'll finish up with a wine from Priorat, one of Spain's better kept secrets when it comes to big juicy red wines! The tasting will include at least six samples, with some nibbles to match, tasting sheet, ISO glasses and expert tutor.
