We Skallywags will walk from the trailhead at the Metro-link station behind 7-11 (the end of Avenida Pico at PCH also known as El Camino Real) to the famous San Clemente Pier (The Plank) and back to whenst we came Arg! This is a flat walk and about 2 miles. Parking is $1 an hour so we advise buy 2 at the pay station because it’s a leisurely walk with many sights to see along the way! Then we will meet at The Brig Restaurant (coffee shop with the worlds best breakfast and flame broiled burgers) in Dana Point Harbor for well earned grub and camaraderie! https://www.thebrigrestaurant.com/ We look forward to seeing you!
We will meet in beautiful Rancho Santa Margarita for a two mile walk through O’Neill Regional Park on the Mesa Trail. The trailhead, however, IS NOT located within the park itself. It is located near the corner of El Camino Montana and Primrose near Saint John’s Episcopal Church. There is ample parking at no cost along El Camino Montana. We will meet at the cement picnic table beyond the break in the fence where the trailhead marker is located. This trail runs parallel to El Camino Montana for approximately 1.5 miles to Antonio Pkwy and back. There is little change in elevation, so this event is suited for walkers of all skills and abilities. A backpack with water and a snack are welcome. This trail is well equipped with all possible amenities including restrooms, drinking fountains, scattered seating and spectacular views of both Saddleback Mountain and Trabuco Canyon. The photo opportunities are fantastic! After we meet back at the picnic table where we began, we will meet at Selma’s Chicago Pizzeria & Tap Room located at 30461 Avenida de Las Flores, Rancho Santa Margarita (Lowe’s shopping center) near the 241 toll road. Please pay attention to the pin on the attached map for location of the trailhead. We look forward to seeing you there!
