Tell us something about yourself. What brings you to this group?

To play music with others is a high for me that is pretty much unmatched with most anything else I can think of.

What musical experience have you had?

When a child, I began with classical guitar, about 5 years. Not much else after but some jamming in high school- then a spot of playing in 'twenties, then not much until about ten years ago, when I got back into playing in a jam setting now and then. I'm a chordie person; not lead. Basic on guitar- played a little fretted dulcimer in my past. Main "instrument" for me is vocals. Love the freedom, the stretch, the physical feeling of using one's body-the voice- to combine into musical sound with others. I'm sure endorphins are released. String theory- I'm all for it!

What is it about a music jam that you like best?

What I like best in a music jam is when people are deeply connected, attenuated to the sensitivity of dynamics both instrumentally and vocally- the push-pull, the decoration over the top to add inflection/ interest, the raw beauty of just a singular voice without backup as well as three part harmony intertwining with grace. It is like becoming the beauty one sees in nature. To "be" a part of what beauty is, within a social combination such as playing music with other people is something unmatched in life, in my book.

There is a requirement that members either play an instrument or sing or both. If you want to bring a guest, you can bring them three times. After that, they have to join, necessitating their musicality or helping the meetup in some way. Understood?

Yep, I understand, since I made this rule. :^)

I love to play music with others!
