It's that time of the year again... the 31st annual Oysterfest in Shelton Citaaay!
From their website: "Oysters, wines, microbrews, live music and so much more come together for two days every year on the first weekend in October. Hosted by the Shelton Skookum Rotary Club Foundation and attended by thousands, OysterFest is home to the West Coast Oyster Shucking Championships and is Washington State’s official seafood festival.
The festival also features a popular cook-off, hands-on water quality exhibits, and is itself a giant a food pavilion with nearly 100 unique items on the menu: BBQ oysters, fritters, spring rolls, garlic shrimp, fresh cider and so much more."
The event is located at the Mason County Fairground in Shelton next to the Airport. Parking is limited, so the plan is to meet at the Top Foods parking lot in west Olympia, carpool to Shelton, and park at Shelton High School to grab the Shuttle.
Don't worry if you don't like oysters; the festival also includes fair food and deep fat fried stuff . For more information, you can visit their website: http://www.oysterfest.org/
