Classical Yoga is based on a system of eight limbs (known as ashtanga yoga) outlined in the ancient text, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. These eight limbs define the different spaces of consciousness that students can work with to find freedom from the entrapment of our own mind, body and emotions. We spend our time worrying about the unknown, dwelling on the past, living in fear or just trying to keep up.
These behaviors keep us from experiencing what's called the "present moment" and when we do we don't necessarily enjoy it! Classical yogic practices help us look at the places in our lives and gives us practical methods to modify and embrace our best self. Making choices with support keeps us encouraged. By working right on our mats we use yoga postures to get our bodies unstuck and moving with more ease and range. We like the seeds that have emerged from the ground, time to stretch up and stand tall. Our focus will be on proper posture and alignment. Working from the inside out.
