Playback Theater Drop-in Class
Playback theater is an original form of improvisational theater, developed by Jonathan Fox and practiced all over the world, in which audience or group members tell stories from their lives and have them enacted on the spot. Playback uses improvisation, storytelling, movement, and music in a unique form that brings people together, in a form that is both socially/emotionally powerful, and also artistically and theatrically satisfying. Participants will experience the playing back of shared personal stories using improvisational theater, music, and movement, incorporating playfulness and depth. Students will deepen their capacity to listen deeply to themselves and each other, expand their range of physicality in enactment, develop skill in abstract, non-linear scene development, and enjoy heightened spontaneity.
