BLACK CANYON TRAIL

We'll spend the weekend riding the Black Canyon Trail, north of Phoenix.

Saturday we'll meet at the Black Canyon trailhead about 900 am.  We'll plan to ride south to Table Mesa Rd and shuttle back to Black Canyon City.  Significant climbing on Saturday with great views.  Bring plenty of water/food.

Sunday we'll plan to leave the KOA campground about 700 am. We'll do a shuttle ride, starting at Old Sycamore Rd off Hwy 69 and riding south.  One group will ride 26 miles to the Glorianna Mine trail head off Bumble Bee Rd.  A faster group will ride an additional 12 miles to the Black Canyon City trail head.  The first 26 miles is on fun, fast singletrack in a generally downhill direction (some climbing and exposure also).  The additional 12 miles has more steady climbing.

If you're driving up to meet us on either day please post or call so we look for you.

We'll plan to meet at Himmel Park or thereabouts at 6 AM Saturday for carpooling/caravanning.  We are camping at the Black Canyon City KOA http://koa.com/campgrounds/black-canyon/.   We have rented two cabins which are pretty much filled already (some space may be open).  This is a nice campground with showers, pool, whirlpool and a small store.  You can check into renting a cabin or tent/RV at the KOA or come up for the day on Saturday or Sunday.

I'll plan on staying at the cabin saturday night, but if things are too crowded, i'll get a KOA tent site. Hope that is OK.

How are we handling shuttling 10+ people up to Old Sycamore Rd on Sunday? I know Carlos has a pretty big truck but that seems like more people than he can safely carry!

We're planning to leave Alex's house by 630. If anybody's coming late give us a call. Plan is to start out at Black Canyon trail head and ride south.

Thanks Tom. This might be a good idea for such a large group.

If you want to use this shuttle service, you should probably call to reserve seats soon. Late RSVPs could be a problem. Maybe reserve all 15 seats and limit the ride to 15 people?
