CHIMNEY ROCK via REDINGTON ATV/AZT

We'll do the ATV Trail, AZ Trail to Chimney Rock, a slick rock playground (and Tucson vortex).  Exit up Bellota Ranch Rd.  We'll meet at the Corral/ATV parking area, near milepost 11 at 800am.  From the corral, the ride is about 14 miles round trip with over 1200 ft of climbing and at least 4 miles of fun downhill singletrack.

A few options:

Meet at the lower tanque verde falls parking lot at 730 to carpool up to the corral staging area.  I'll be meeting here and driving up to the corral.

For those doing the IMBA/STRAVA Challenge this is a good ride to get in some climbing miles.  Start riding at the Lower Falls parking lot between 630 & 700 depending on your speed, meeting the group at 800 at the Corral/ATV lot.

I'll be skipping the ATV Trail, riding up Redington Rd. to the AZ Trail to avoid the more technical parts of the ride (and hopefully protect my knee).  But everybody else can plan to do the ATV trail up to the AZ Trail regrouping at the AZ trail Redington trailhead.

This is an intermediate level ride with quite a bit of climbing- about 1800' from the Corral; over 2500 including the road ride. This is NOT a beginner level ride!!

Got your note Deb. I was at the Lower Falls at 735 and the corral staging area at 800. Sorry we missed you! Hope to see you on another ride.

Saw my ortho doc today. He said to bike more, but don't overdo it, so I'll be driving up to the corral/staging area.

I heard a rumor that the USFS will be at the information kiosk from 8-5 on Saturday answering questions about potential trail closures for both motorized and non-motorized traffic. If you're attending this ride and there really is a representative there, please take a moment and let them know that you want to keep the trails open for responsible use. Closing the trails because of the actions of a few bad apples is not the answer.

In addition to mountain biking, I also enjoy hiking and off-roading in my Jeep. I have been to Chivo Falls numerous times and just spent a couple of days camping out there with my family. We picked up so much trash!

There's lots of Wait-a-minute Bush along the trail. Hillary proved it could be done without a scratch, no one else did.
