BALD EAGLES, MIGRATING BIRDS AND WILDLIFE WORKSHOP TO THE KLAMATH NATIONAL WILDLIFE RESERVE ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2017
Every year, in late winter, the largest number of Bald Eagles in the continental US gathers in the Klamath Basin in winter to feast on the large numbers of migrating birds - Tundra Swans, Snow Geese and ducks.
Dates: Friday, February 3, 2017 to Monday, February 6, 2017.
Optional Day: For those who are interested, we are planning an optional trip to amazing Crater Lake on Monday with a return trip on Tuesday.
Location: Klamath National Wildlife Reserve
You can see images that were taken at our last Bald Eagle workshop by clicking on the link below:
Schedule: On Friday, you should drive directly to the Wildlife Reserve for some late afternoon shooting which will start at 3;30 pm.
On Saturday and Sunday, we will return to the Refuge for early morning images of eagles and wildlife in a variety of locations. There will also be some sunset photography on both evenings. On Monday morning, there will be an optional trip to beautiful Crater Lake.
Wildlife Instruction: Both Chris and I will be working with smaller groups of photographers. We will cover a lot of important tips about how to create great images as well as providing personal help with setting up your camera and special tips for creating images. With a maximum of 6 photographers in each shooting group, we will be able to approach the birds more successfully. Each day, we will schedule instruction and review images taken the previous day.
Departure Times: For those who are able to travel on Friday morning, you should leave early in order to arrive in time for some late day bird photography and a sunset shot. If you need to wait until after work to leave, you can meet us on Saturday morning.
Car Pooling: We will help with setting up car pools to save on travel costs. When you reserve your space, be sure to tell us if you are interested in car pooling and what city you are coming from. We will try to find spaces for those who want to be passengers but we cannot insure a ride for those who do not want to drive. You should be prepared to drive if necessary. For drivers, we recommend that passengers pay all the cost of gas and bridge tolls.
Hotels: We will be staying in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Hotel prices are very reasonable in this area. I have reserved a room for $33.00 plus tax per night for a single room.
Room Sharing: For those who want to share a room, you can post a message on the message board.
Weather Conditions: There is no way to predict weather conditions on the trip weekend in advance. If conditions are bad, we will re-schedule to another weekend. If this happens, everyone will be given the option of moving to the new dates or to receive a full refund.
Early Bird Price: $150.00 per person (not including hotels, meals or cost of travel). The price will increase to $195.00 on Monday, December 5, 2016 at midnight.
Workshop Size: 12 photographers.
PLEASE NOTE: When you enter your RSVP for this event, you will be asked to answer a few questions. It is very important that you send the answers since we need that information to be able to run this workshop.
This is an amazing time of the year to visit the reserve and we would love to have you join us.
