Water gives us the gift of life. We are lucky here on the coast of Maine. Water is close and plentiful. Our lives are intertwined with the rhythms and cycles of those waters. Let’s take the opportunity on World Water Day to celebrate and offer prayers back for the health of the waters here and all over the world. Let’s bring our hearts together to make something beautiful to offer back to the waters.
What: A ceremony and walk for the water around Back Cove (3.5 mile loop). A time for thanksgiving, prayer, song, celebration for this beautiful body of water. We will hold our ceremony first so you are free to do all, some, or none of the walking loop, as you see fit.
Where: We will gather at Back Cove in Portland, at the parking lot off the Preble Street Extension (near the Hannaford grocery store)
Please Bring: A small jar or bottle of drinking water from your home (in addition to what you may want to bring for the walk). Bring what you need to be comfortable walking outside in March.
Please feel free to bring songs, drums or other musical instruments. We will have materials available to make small flags together to carry with us on our walk. Take a moment ahead of time to ponder what your personal prayer is for the water. You are also welcome to prepare your own flag, mandala, or other creation at home and bring it with you.
