This 1/2 day intensive should give any beginning gardener a solid grounding the basic ideas of sustainable gardening. While the principals will certainly apply to any plants you might want to grow, we will may special attention to growing edible and medicinal perennials. The exact topics covered will be guided by the needs of the class but will include: needs of the plant, making compost, starting new beds, planting out, maintaining beds, starting seeds, dividing perennials and other vegetative propagation. There will be several hands on demonstrations and the class will take place outdoors so wear appropriate clothes and bring gloves if you want them. The class will conclude with a garden tour and bare-root perennials with be available for sale at a discounted rate.

Look for a "wood chips wanted" sign on a silver mailbox.
