Wednesday After Work Paddle

  • Jul 30, 2014 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

The level of the paddle will be determined by the overall skill of the paddlers.

Option 1  - Paddle to Richmond Island, walk around the island, paddle back

Option 2 - Paddle around Richmond Island (tide dependent and a possible level 3 on the outside of Richmond)

Option 3 - Paddle across the cove to Richmond Island beach. At the beach we can try addressing rescue skills or rolling. (or just chill out for a while before we paddle back). Kettle cove is usually protected to provide enjoyable experience for all levels. The Kettle Cove parking lot is right next to a pocket beach where we put in our boats. I might have some equipment available to loan for the night - let me know if you are missing something and I will try to bring it with me. Required equipment: Life Jacket, Sea Kayak, Spray Skirt and a paddle :-)

Recommended equipment: Paddle Float, Bilge Pump, Sunscreen, Beverage.

By far the most spectacular sunset I've seen all season, plus a great group of people and fun to experience the mystical fog and some swells. Thanks!

Would have loved to have been there. Weather was threatening in Kennebunkport when I made the decision not to travel up to Cape Elizabeth. Then, at 5 PM the sun broke through and it turned out to be a beautiful night and I kicked myself for not going. Going to try to make up for it today by paddling Cape Porpoise at 1 PM today. If anyone is available, come join me. Planning to launch from the causeway on Pier Road, go out through Paddy's Creek, come in through the backside of Goat Island Lighthouse, stop at one of the islands for a swim, and then return to Cape Porpoise.

It was really beautiful, and now I know fog is better than light.

Thanks to our fearless leader for guiding us through the fog and surfing the waves on the back side of the island! Awesome paddle!

Weather here in Kennebunkport is dark and threatening with a heavy fog bank rolling in. Unless it clears within the next hour, I might have to cancel tonight's paddle.

I have had a surprise reschedule at the dentist at 4:10pm. I believe I should make it on time but if I'm late the group can launch with Bob Dawson and I will catch up.

This will be my second paddle out of Kettle Cove and my third with the SMSKN. Hoping for great weather and a beautiful paddle.
