Looking forward to hiking with everyone on Sunday!

SO SORRY TO HAVE TO CHANGE THIS DATE / TIME.....

Being the very popular girl that she is, Trinket accidentally double booked her day on February 1. She hopes you will still be able to hike with her on Sunday, February 2nd.

Please update your RSVP if you are unable to attend on Sunday. Again, she feels terrible about this and sends her apologies!

On December 8, 2012, many of us had the pleasure of meeting an adorable four month old black lab puppy named Trinket. She was just released to her “puppy raiser” Fernando to begin the first phase of her training for an organization called Guiding Eyes For The Blind.

Since that day, we have experienced many hikes and social events with Trinket as part of her training. Some of the hikes were more painful than others. It appears that Fernando’s right arm may now be longer than his left from all the leash pulling but Trinket has developed into a beautiful, mature, well-mannered dog. All thanks to Fernando - damn him!

The ultimate goal for Trinket is to become a guide dog for a blind or visually impaired person or child. With that said, on or about the second week of February, Trinket will go to the next stage of her training called IFT (in for training). At that time, she will be given back to the Guiding Eyes School to continue working/training with professional instructor. This little dog who won our hearts will go on to do great things!

Prior to her departure, let’s get busy and celebrate one more hike with Trinket on Goosepond Mountain. We’ll hike the Lazy Hill Road starting in Monroe. The hike will go to Laroe Road in Chester and then we'll turn around and go back! This is a 5 mile moderate hike. *See directions way below.

Important things to know about Goosepond Mountain:

1. There are no geese

2. There is no pond

3. It is a rather small mountain

Trinket’s four-legged buddies are invited to join in the merriment of this occasion.

Dress according to Chris Cimino’s weather forecast. Nasty weather such as freezing rain or snow will produce a PLAN B (details to follow as needed). If there is snow on the ground already …… Micro Spikes.

Please email your cell # if I don’t already have it; I’ll send you mine.

*DIRECTIONS TO GOOSEPOND MOUNTAIN PARKING LOT

The Meetup fee for this event is any donation you’re willing to give (minimum $1). All donations collected for this event will be donated to GuidingEyes to celebrate Trinket’s success (and Fernando’s too – damn him)!

FYI – A puppy raiser provides a home, teaches good social skills and house manners plus so much more to dogs in the Guiding Eyes program. For more information regarding this wonderful organization, visit their website at www.guidingeyes.org (http://www.guidingeyes.org/)
