Saint Patrick Day's Hike to Windwolves

What better way to spend Saint Patrick's Day than to take a stroll up the beautiful San Emigdio Canyon at Windwolves preserve. We will meet at the Starbucks on Panama Lane in the Wal-mart parking lot at 8:30 and carpool to Windwolves which is about an half an hour away. Once we get to Windwolves we will hike up the canyon to the Willows Picnic area which is about two miles up the canyon stopping along the way to take pictures and hopefully catch some wildflowers. This is an easy hike which is suited for everyone including small children. After the recent rains the surrounding foothills should be beautiful. After reaching The Willows Picnic area we will head back the same way we came and eat lunch at the picnic area. For those looking for a more strenuous workout you are welcome to join me as I intend to ride my mountain bike up the canyon after lunch to the Reflection pond Trailhead which is about five miles up the canyon. It's a really good workout and we may stop along the way to climb a few ridges. Hope you can join us as we celebrate Saint Patricks day by hiking the beautiful green hills of Kern County!

Love the California elk and the painted caves at Windwolves. Good trip to you guys. I'm afraid I'm already running the gauntlet in the Tehachipis that weekend.
