Do you have any skill sets to bring to the group?

Post Apocalypse: Engine Repair, some woodworking & metalworking. 2 year service in Canadian Navy many years ago, community planning & logistics. Small arms skills & marksmanship. Pre-apocalypse: 30 year career in IT. Tons of experience in Web Design, information sytsems, digital control of analog/digital systems and CNC machines. Small, medium & large project project planning and management. Presently employed as a Information Systems Architect with a leading Fortune 500 company in the Financial Services Industry.

What aspects of disaster preparedness and self sufficiency interest you most

At a personal level, networking, personal responsibility and self-reliance. Wish to learn from who know more than me & teach those who know less than me. At a community level, push/promote the importance of group/social dynamics in a large-scale disaster, because they will be paramount to survival. Well-prepared groups will overcome to re-establish civilized society in accordance to a proven system left to us by the Founding Fathers. Long-Term: Help transform the public's perception of "preparedness" from a right-wing, gun nut weirdo anarchist hobby sub-culture (which hasn't been helped by idiotic TV shows on the topic) into a one that recognizes the value of self-reliance, personal responsibility to family and how prepared individuals can ontribute constructively to their community in hard times.
