Want to stimulate and nurture your inner writer? The focus of this group is "to inspire us to write". The hallmark is all positive feedback (even our suggestions are phrased positively, because we don't want our inner critics to impede our inner muse). We want to be cheerleaders for each other. The structure of most of the weekly writing groups will be a brief warm-up (such as reading an excerpt from a book on how to write) with an optional suggested writing exercise designed to stimulate the creative juices, followed by an hour of quiet writing, and ending with a wrap-up. If desired, people may also exchange manuscripts or if really brave, read a bit from their piece. Feedback is all positive but positively phrased suggestions are also given, if specifically asked for. The structure of the Free Writes Meetups is different. It is just to show up and write with no real structure- no didactic portion, no optional writing prompt. All skill levels are welcome to all meetups, and brand new writers are celebrated. Occasionally, we may have a weekend writing workshop or other stimulating activity thrown in there.
