Easy Riders Spin, From UCD

  • "Easy Riders" Leisure Cycle is a SouthSide based social meetup bringing together a group of people, young or not so young, interested in leisure and exercise cycling, and a coffee meetup. Currently this is a weekly cycle outing.

We are South Dublin based (but all are welcome). The outings are on Sundays 10.00 am - 1 p.m., approximately, including the break out social meetup for coffee, during the spin.

Some outings take in the coast, others inland with some manageable hills, but always with a break the other side !

The group is about cycling, exercise, but also fun.

The cycle will be just about 20-30  KM, in a group. For the spin, you would need a decent bike, an ok level of fitness and a very keen sense of road safety. IMPORTANT; You take part at your own risk (you recognise this if you join), but we will cycle mainly where cycle lanes are present (your safety first), or off busy road stretches as much as we can. Please remember to cycle in single order on busy roads and not side by side.

If you are interested in taking part on these meetups, there are no costs apart from your own coffee or food purchase. We currently leave from the new Spar and Insomnia shops, and they are in a building, near University College Dublin (UCD), which is a new UCD student accommodation building. This is located the other side of the Stillorgan Road, away from the UCD main campus.

A MAP link is  - opposite University College Dublin (UCD), but on the Stillorgan road (N11). We do (approx) 90 Mins of cycling, with 1 / 2 very small breaks. The 45 min stop off for coffee/food, is also part of the outing, and occurs half-way.

Unlike the very old motor bike movie "Easy Rider" from which the name comes from, there's no drugs required, no EPO or anything else to influence your cycling power. Coffee and food are the only stimulants we recommend on the outing. Here's a clip from that old Biker movie Easy rider (bit out of date!)

You can just drop along without signing up here on the meetup website, to check the cycle out. However, please DO consider registering longer term for specific meetups, so that you will receive timely alerts, changes or weather driven reschedule (prior to travelling to the cycle), if the weather (wind / rain) forces a last minute cancellation, we will email before 9 a.m. on the Sunday, if any change . Meanwhile, to plan! Here's the 7 day Local Weather Forecast

Also, if you download the MEETUP APP on a smartphone, you would be able to get alerts straight to your phone.

We look forward to welcoming you, and please feel free to share about this meetup with your friends - the link is Here

All the best and hope to see you soon, at a group outing.
