23 -28 November is Big Data Week - a festival of international Big Data events happening around the world and Spark London is part of the official BDW events throughout the week.
Two great speakers this month: Rafal Kwasny, who gave the first talk ever at Spark London, and Jacek Laskowski from Deepsense.io.
Big Data Week
BDW 10 minutes intro into one of the biggest big data international communities
Autoscaling Spark for Fun and Profit
In this talk Rafal will discuss new set of scripts for running clusters on ec2 spot instances, with autoscaling and other tips and tricks to optimise your Spark installation on ec2.
Jacek Laskowski - a freelance consultant helping people advance in Apache Spark and Scala
Execution Model of Apache Spark (using spark-shell and WebUI)
"We all come here to see if you wanna go pro." Lt. Aldo Raine
The talk is aimed at introducing Spark from near-low-level details of RDD and jobs that are triggered by actions. It’s a deep dive into what happens after a simple spark-shell execution and how Spark distributes tasks amongst executors. It is also going to demonstrate the difference between Spark's local mode and clusters, how stages are created given a Spark user program with Spark shell and UI.
