Go Asia! – A highly valuable event on funding and business opportunities in East Asia. We will learn about funding programs available to companies collaborating with East Asian partners on joint R&D projects. Next, we'll hear from the Israel-Asia Chamber of Commerce about business opportunities and also receive an expert's view on the legal aspects of collaboration with East Asian markets, and finally we'll get an in-depth view of the Chinese market.

About the speakers:

Adv. Shirley Refuah, Senior Manager Singapore Israel Industrial Research & Development Foundation

Adv. Shirley Refuah earned her degree in Political Science from Tel-Aviv University in 1996, followed by a degree in Law (LL.B.) from the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya in 1999. She worked between 1997 and 1999 at Herman Makov & Co., where she dealt with business & corporate law, aviation law, civil and commercial law, labor laws and pension. Between 2000 and 2002, Adv. Refuah worked at the Office of the Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Economy (formerly the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor) as an advisor to the Deputy Chief Scientist. In this position, Adv. Refuah was involved in the negotiation and composition of bi-national and multi-national agreements for support of industrial R&D cooperation. Between 2002 and 2003, Adv. Refuah worked as Director of International Relations & Cooperation for South East Asia at MATIMOP – the Israeli Industry Center for R&D, an agency working on behalf of the Office of the Chief Scientist. In this capacity, Adv. Refuah managed all aspects of international cooperation between Israel and Asian countries, particularly with India, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. For the last eleven years, Adv. Refuah has served as the Senior Manager of the Singapore-Israel Industrial R&D Foundation (SIIRD). Her work focuses on managing ongoing projects through the facilitation of partnerships, technological interim and final evaluation meetings and audit assessments, monitoring projects for accuracy and adherence to budget, and assisting Singaporean and Israeli companies to find technological partners for joint innovative projects in industrial R&D. Adv. Ms. Shirley Refuah lives in Ramat Hasharon with her husband, Guy, and their two children, Daniel and Amit.

Mr. Asaf Alperovitz CEO of Allium Medical

Mr. Alperovitz has been Allium's CEO since August 2012. Prior to joining Allium Asaf served as the CFO of Syneron Medical Ltd. (NASDAQ: ELOS). Prior to that, he served as the Israeli Site Manager and CFO of Omrix Biopharmaceuticals, a J&J Company. From 2005 to 2008 he served as the CFO of Tefron Ltd. From 2003 to 2005, Asaf was the CFO of Corigin Ltd., an enterprise Software Company. Asaf held various management positions in the high-tech area of Ernst & Young, both in Israel and in California, for eight years including the management of the Israeli Desk of Ernst & Young in California. He has a strong international industrial and transaction background. Mr. Alperovitz is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Economics and a Masters in Business Administration from Tel Aviv University.

Ilan Maor, Managing Partner, SHENG-BDO Ziv Haft China BD

As of January 2008, Ilan has been acting as the Managing partner of SHENG-BDO Ziv Haft, a leading business development, investment and technology cooperation company with presence and operations in China and Israel. Ilan heads the company's operations in Israel and its marketing and technological cooperation sector. Ilan Maor have also been serving as the Vice President of the Israel-Asia Chamber of Commerce and the Vice Chairman of the Israel-China Chamber of Commerce, since being elected to this post in June 2009. Before joining SHENG-BDO Ziv Haft in 2008, Ilan headed the Economic Department responsible for Asia-Pacific, Russia and the CIS region, as well as for economic international organizations, at the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ilan also served as the head of the Israeli negotiating team with the OECD. Between[masked] Ilan served as the Consul General of Israel in Shanghai. He was the first (and only) Israeli diplomat to be listed among the “100 Most Influential People in the Israel Economy” list, published by Israel's leading business magazine, “The Marker". Ilan also served as Director at the Israel Economic and Culture Office in Taipei, as well as the Deputy Chief of Mission, at the Embassy of Israel in Kathmandu. Ilan holds an MBA from the Thames Valley University and a B.A. with honors from Tel Aviv University.

Dr. Ayal Shenhav - Shenhav & Co., Advocates & Notary

Dr. Ayal Shenhav is ranked by Legal 500 and Chambers as one of the leading lawyers in Israel in High Tech and Taxation. Dr. Shenhav represents many of Israel's leading venture capital and private equity funds, advising them on their formation, tax efficient structuring, and operations. A highly sought-after Sinologist in the field of business development in Israel has been active in China since 1988, with over10 years of high level executive experience. Yael has been involved in numerous signed deals between Israeli companies and Chinese companies. Yael is the Founder of YChina Ltd. a company specializing in business development in the Chinese market. She is senior consultant to many governmental agencies as well as large Israeli firms, involved in both business development, operating all their activities in China, and in training and consulting to these companies.
