What we're about
We are a "women's only" group who gather each Thursday evening to sing, share the harmony of friendship, and learn the barbershop art form. During the day we are mothers, nurses, secretaries, receptionists, accountants, doctors, etc., but on Thursday's we're singers, having a GREAT time preparing for shows, competitions and/or performances.
The Spirit of Southeast Texas Chapter is part of Sweet Adeline's International, the worlds largest singing and music education organization for women. SAI is a not for profit group and has more than 28,000 members in the U.S and several foreign countries. We are part of Region 10, which includes the southern parts of Texas and Louisiana, as well as a bit of North Louisiana and Alabama that was recently added.
We participate in an annual, regional competition to determine who will represent our region at the international level, 18 months later. This is a wonderful experience, and all the prep that goes into our competition package helps us to improve our vocal and performing skills. We are looking forward to our next competition and would LOVE to share the experience with you!
Our repertoire includes a wide variety of songs including broadway show tunes, patriotic, gospel, love songs, country, tear-jerker ballads, and some of the most popular contemporary music heard today.
This may seem a bit overwhelming, but this is an educational organization and we have a talented staff willing and able to teach and train you. We look forward to sharing our joy of singing with you. We hope you'll decide to make us a part of your life on regular basis.
We do have an Audition process and annual fees paid to be a member.
