THE KINDNESS PROJECT - Daily Acts of Kindness

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • THE KINDNESS PROJECT

(Please note that this is currently not an actual physical event that is happening, although I do plan to hold an event and possibly regular events like this in the future.  This is you setting an intention to be kind and do random acts of kindness in your own day to day life.)

Acts of kindness are powerful, as they help you to feel good, others feel good and help the world to be a better place! Kindness also helps raise the energy vibration of our world and promote positive change, which will help more people feel more loving and grateful.

This can help to raise the energy vibration of the the people involved and eventually the planet as every act of kindness can be a catalyst in facilitating a 'Global Shift' to a kinder and more peaceful humanity!

    GREGG BRADEN QUOTE

“...for centuries, prophets and sages have suggested that one tenth of one percent of humanity, working together in a unified effort, may shift the consciousness of the entire world"

    - Gregg Braden - scientist, visionary and scholar

    DAILY ACTS OF KINDNESS

I invite you to set the intention and DO A CONSCIOUS ACT OF KINDNESS more often or even everyday, especially for the month of December and when possible ASK THE PERSON TO PAY IT FORWARD and do an act of kindness for someone else.

You can do acts of kindness to nature and animals too.

Remember, this can also include being kind to yourself when needed as well. When our tank is full, we can give more to others. ♥

Please indicate below if you want to do this, what you think about it or ideas for acts of kindness.  If you feel inspired to do so, please share with others, so that together we can create a ripple effect of love, joy, gratitude, positive energy and change.

    ACTS OF KINDNESS IDEAS

There are many, many ways you can show kindness to others. Let's create a list of ideas so we can learn from each other ways we can be kind that we did not think of! I will start a numbered list and please add the next number when you add your idea.

    1.   Smile at a stranger
    2.   Give someone a sincere compliment
    3.   Pay for the next person in line (Tim Hortons/coffee shop, bus, dollar store, gas station, grocery store etc)
    4.   Hold a door open
    5.   Give an unexpected thank you card or gift
    6.   Give someone flowers, perhaps even a stranger
    7.   Communicate and show your appreciation
    8.   Give someone your seat (On the bus, at an event etc)
    9.   Let someone go in front of you (in line, when driving, going through a door etc)
    10. Buy or give a homeless person some food or clothing

    11. Picking up garbage, especially if you are in nature

Today at work I really connected with a client that really struggles. I held her hands and gently stroked her hands while listening to her and I mean REALLY LISTENING to her while looking her right in the eyes for quite some time. This act of kindness really meant a lot to her . . . but also to me! Really just listening to someone can mean a lot. A smile and a hug really goes a long way too! It shows LOVE! Love is what life is all about! I also love to bake for the staff and the volunteers too! I bake treats for them with LOVE to show LOVE! How blessed I am!

Beautiful Denise and thanks for sharing! You are right feeling love in general and when we do things sends the high vibration energy of love into the actions we are doing, the food we are making and the people we are helping! Love and light to you!

Put together an inexpensive Halloween loot bag for an event organizer yesterday. A lot of people had been dropping out of the event (she organized a big event and the restaurant closed to the public just for our party) which frustrated her. She was really happy for the gesture.

Got onto the bus tonight and smiled and said hello to an elderly lady who looked over at me as I entered - I normally don't do this :)

And gave a big hug today to a colleague whose elderly mom had passed away :(

I decided instead of donating my kids gently used clothing to goodwill, value village, etc (clothes are re-sold) I joined a site called "free and frugal in kw". I post picture of what I have and give the items to who ever may need them. It's such a wonderful group I found on FB. Donated many clothes twice this week.

When grocery shopping on Friday, upon cashing out, I realized that I forgot my Sobeys card, which means that I collect points and can get free groceries. So I turned to the couple behind me in line and asked if they had a Club Sobeys card. Reply was yes. I gave them my points on their card. The gentleman told me that it was good karma what I did. That was my reward. Both of us benefited. I was a happy lady.

On a few exits off the interstate near where I live there are always one or two homeless people asking for handouts. A few months ago, the woman in front of me waved her hand out the window and one of the homeless rushed over. She handed him a protein bar. He devoured it on the spot. When I handed him my change, he looked up at me, grinned and said, "Chocolate chip!" He was just so delighted. I decided right then and there that I will always carry some water and nutrition bars with me so that I can be ready to spread some joy around.

The Thanksgiving food drive at work began. I asked a coworker to join me in grocery shopping for the donation. She readily agreed and this doubled the food donation compared to going by myself. We motivated each other and had fun doing it. :)

I love the snow!!! It makes for so many opportunities to help neighbours and folks that are having car troubles. Just the act of having patience is well received in the slippery snow.

Another way to be kind is to recite a nicely balanced prayer and send the Energy out to mankind, especially those living in the streets, or sick in hospitals. Merry Christmas everyone, and Blessed is The Master Jesus, who's birthday we will be celebrating in a few days.

I've been having fun over the last few weeks helping with food hampers and gifts for the 9 at-need families our church adopts over the holidays. Since I make jewellry, I've been making gift sets for the mothers in the families. And at every Pure Romance party I have in November and December, I am collecting wrapped gifts for the Shoebox project to give gifts to all the women living in shelters over the holidays. If anyone would like to donate, either at Thursday's Sexy Secret Santa party (contact me if you haven't received your invite yet - it will be the most fun party of the season!) or any time before December 20, left me know and I'll pick up.

I encourage you to hold this intention with you into the new year and watch for opportunities to be kind to others. Being kind will become a more natural tendency as you continue to practice doing it consciously. Namaste.

Hi everyone! Thanks for sharing this great idea Dortmund :-) I try to act with kindness and positiveness as often as possible, especially in my work as a teacher.

I loved Crystal's suggestion to spread light and love to the world through our daily meditations, and for those who feel inclined, there is this movement called Let Love Consciousness Rule - facebook link: https://www.facebook.com/events/418238484878624/459969267372212/?notif_t=plan_mall_activity
which invites anyone interested to join in and, wherever we are every day at 12 noon, to connect to other participants and spread love consciousness around us and to the earth for one minute. I hope the link works (please cut and paste!), all the info is there. They also have a nice YouTube video about it, here is the link:

    Light and love to all!

Lovely idea, Dortmund. I'm SO glad you've put this out there!

    16. Here's one that may sound weird, but when you see a stranger obviously upset, go up, offer a hug, and ask if you can help. Tried that today at a brand new church (on my first visit), and it clearly meant the world to someone else (plus I made a new friend!). We're afraid to offer comfort to strangers, but it's seldom going to be taken amiss!
    17. If you know someone who's alone at Christmas, invite them to share the day with your family.
    18. When you're shovelling your walkway, do your neighbour's too - especially if they're elderly or infirm.
    19. When someone you know is going through a hard time, show up with a casserole (our grandmothers knew all about practical kindness).
    20. Sincerely ask the bore who won't stop talking about himself how he's doing, even if you know it will launch a half hour discourse. Act interested.
    21. Exclaim over how beautiful someone's children are. Especially if they're not.

Hello Dortmund , it has been a while, I hope all is well. I try to practice random acts of kindness throughout my daily routine. Let's not forget about mother earth and animal kingdom. Picking up litter, putting out nuts for the squirrels, putting out bird seeds in the bird feeder ( food at this time of year is scarce for some local animals). Also please do not forget some people do not have familly around for Christmas, please try to make them feel not alone for the hollidays. These may be small acts to do, but do not underestimate how good they will make you feel. Best to all.

    December 1, 2012

    • Dortmund M.

Yes Mike, showing kindness toward nature and animals is very important too! Thank you very much for the reminder and suggestions of how to show them kindness and love.

Here's an idea that's crossed my mind many times. Offer someone a ride, like when you see someone waiting for a bus in the cold and they're probably going down the same direction you're driving in. People are so conditioned to mistrust others first, this exercise would seem to break that pattern for both yourself and the person you're helping out.
