The Tao of the Spiritual Warrior is a Meetup group set up to encourage those whose penchant is to 'work on themselves" through ceremony, alchemy and inner work. There are those who seek spiritual adventure and experiences which inform them that "they are in contact with the spirit." And there is a place and a time for such activities. This group however is primarily for those who have realized that they themselves are the Spirit, that the pursuit of information about spirituality and spiritual adventuring is not ordinarily very healthy or even useful forms of spiritual practice (being motivated by spiritual ambition or spiritual materialism), that the essence of the spiritual path is instead inner work on one's self to raise one's consciousness and vibration.
The ultimate goal is, like the Greeks and many others have maintained, to "Know Thyself"....or to "Know Who You Are."That said, I offer you this salutation: "I know Who You Are, in Truth. I know What You Are, in Truth. I know how You serve, in Truth. You are here. You are here. You are here." ( A little ritual to say how much I who "knows who you are" honor you and call you to your highest understanding of Self.)
As many advanced spiritual teachers have maintained for Aeons, there is nothing to teach. This work is not about getting information about the path. It is about answering the question "Who Am I?" And knowing in our deepest heart space that We ARE Creator, Universe, Truth. This path to self-knowledge, "self-knowing" is what the ancients knew as "knowing one's self as 'the Self' ." and modern psychologists call "individuation" and "Wholeness.
"We each are the Self--but we feel that we are 'separated' from God because of our 'sins' or 'original sin' or our limitations -- and we see our path as our struggle to reach God, to touch the divine Source in some way. But we have forgotten who and what we are, and I am here to tell you that you are not alone. You are not forgotten. You are far more than you know. The real journey is the struggle to overcome your history, your conditionings, your identities, and your fear into the acceptance of Who and What You Are.
As the Master Jesus of Nazareth once said, "if you knock, you will be answered." And he didn't mean by priests or gurus even.
“The spiritual journey is individual, highly personal. It can't be organized or regulated. It isn't true that everyone should follow one path. Listen to your own truth.” ― Ram Dass
Now is the dawning of the New Age of Aquarius, as the Age of Pisces passes, and as the chaos of the disassembling of Piscean realities begins. The world is in chaos, the last stage of the wave initiated by Jesus Christ. His contribution was to set the stage for what is continuing as we speak. Jesus initiated the idea of Heaven as a spiritual reality and demonstrated to Mankind the possibility of God manifesting "as a man" on Earth. His example, however, was not realized due to man's insistence on dogmatizing his message into rigid forms of religion.
Unlike in the East, Western Man insisted on seeing Jesus as the "only son of God" and not the manifestation of the Divine Principle "as a Man". No one else could be so blessed, said these religious authorities, even though Jesus promised that "even as I do, you will do also" and "greater works than I will you do." Thus, Jesus became a Savior, and he was worshipped as the only way to be saved from our sin.
Today, we are given a newer message; an update, so to speak.
All Men and Women are Divine Beings. And all are worthy of Love and forgiveness no matter what they have said or done. Forgive yourself your transgressions, ask for forgiveness from those you have judged and harmed thoughtlessly, and ask the Divine for forgiveness. Learn the lessons from your mistakes and your ignorance, and move on. There is no longer any requirement to ask priests for God's Will; do your own work and you shall find purpose, mission, and your own paths into the Light.
The Christ has manifested in us all. It is your own birthright as a Divine Being of God's Love. What Jesus began in the West continues. Aquarius is the Age of the Materialization of God and Heaven on Earth. That materialization will happen within and through each of us as we permit. Say "Yes" to your own divinity. Say "Yes" that your own Divine Self may manifest through and "as you". And it shall happen.
You are here.
You are here.
You are here.
This experience is not about spiritual authorities, psychics, astrologists, or anyone outside one's self. It is about you realizing Who You Are; and by 'realizing" I mean "knowing". The journey is in fact more about stripping off the incorrect understandings, beliefs, fears, assumptions and conditioning that have put us at the effect of our culture, our social behaviors, our opinions, and our own neurotic fixations.
And what holds us back from doing this -- so that the path IS a struggle to overcome your own resistance -- is our deep fear of God which our religious teachings have put into us. Anyone who has done this work will recognize this and delve inwardly instead of seeking outwardly or following anyone else.
One has to learn by doing, and no outer authority and no belief system can make it happen for you. You must take this journey on your own.
I call upon the words of J. Krishnamurti, once head of the Theosophic Movement and for a time designate "World Teacher" of the Order of the Star, to underline this idea: Krishnamurti stepped down and dissolved the world order in order to teach us this fact: Never Idealize Anything Outside Your Self. You are the only Ideal you should ever believe in.
Krishnamurti's admonition was:
"I maintain that Truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect. That is my point of view, and I adhere to that absolutely and unconditionally. Truth, being limitless, unconditioned, unapproachable by any path whatsoever, cannot be organized; nor should any organization be formed to lead or to coerce people along any particular path. If you first understand that, then you will see how impossible it is to organize a belief. A belief is purely an individual matter, and you cannot and must not organize it. If you do, it becomes dead, crystalized; it becomes a creed, a sect, a religion, to be imposed on others. This is what everyone throughout the world is attempting to do. Truth is narrowed down and made a plaything for those who are weak, for those who are only momentarily discontented. Truth cannot be brought down; rather , the individual must make the effort to ascend to it. You cannot bring the mountaintop to the valley. if you would attain to the mountain you must pass through the valley, climb the steeps, unafraid of the dangerous precipices. You must climb towards the Truth. It cannot be stepped down or organized for you....An organization becomes a framework into which its members can conveniently fit. They no longer strive after Truth or the mountaintop, but rather carve for themselves a convenient niche in which they put themselves, or let the organization place them, and consider that the organization will thereby lead them to Truth." J. Krishnamurti
But there is a pearl of wisdom in most religious teachings, and the pearl is the understanding that "God is Love." There is truly no "becoming someone acceptable to God"; because we are already unconditionally loved and acceptable, and we always have been. And that Love is expressed in the freedom we have been given to be creators ourselves. But instead, we punish ourselves by choosing lives of pain, constriction and fear, We must learn Who and What we already are. The Mystery we seek is within Us, and our fear of that mystery guides our every decision on the Path until we surrender to our own Highest Truth and begin to express ourselves here on Earth as God's Will.
Here at the dawn of this incoming Age, we are being taught about Spiritual Freedom, and the prospect of such a thing...being Free to become Creators in our own right, scares the holy *** out of most of us...because it means we ourselves must take responsibility for ourselves instead of being in a worshiping or placating relationship to the "God out there". It means realizing that the only place one will find or experience That God we all believe is outside ourselves is in our own heart. We are the walking, talking physical expression of That very same God, so to speak.
And the quest for the god within ourselves is about how we ourselves choose to express that wisdom, that love, and that heart to one another and to this planet on which we dwell..The power in which we reside when we are on this journey into our selves is "The Hermit Archetype."
The Hermit Archetype
The archetype of the Hermit (or the Crone if a woman) is one of the foremost archetypes of transformative experience: the Universal Principle of completion, contemplation and introspection. For those familiar with the Tarot, the Hermit is the 9th esoteric key or "trump card." The Hermit is also known as "the Sage", the "Oracle, and the Wise Man or Woman."
Like the picture for this Meetup, the hermit carries his (or her) light into his own darkness to discover who he is and restore his own power. For most of us, it is within the dark that we discover our own Light and our own Divinity.
The Hermit is VIRGO, which is the zodiacal sign involving tying up the details from the past, organizing life in harmony, speaking and creating beauty, and reminding us of our own beauty through confronting the inner critic, emotional positivity, spiritual strengths, and external gains in all aspects of outer life. Virgo people create beauty, organize, systematize, bring balance and help to bring harmony.
THE HERMIT is deeply philosophical and demands solitude and space (emotional, psychological, and environmental space). He has a need to experience what is meaningful and significant and has little patience with the superficial or illusory. He holds a deep regard for order and harmony and a deep love for quietude and time spent alone. He is unwilling to communicate or lead in any situations where he has had no experience and wishes to complete the past before he moves ahead. The Hermit/Crone is the archetype of the "Wise Person and the Way Shower, Wise Leader, Lantern Bearer"..But the Hermit is also the archetype of Transformation and Rebirth, so the Hermit/Crone contains the entire process of death, transformation and rebirth.
The Hermit knows that he does not know the Truth for everyone and feels that truth in these lower dimensional realities is merely a relative instead of any sort of absolute and final conclusion. He or she recognizes that his own idea of what is true is only his own relative truth, gleaned from his own experience and understanding. Therefore, he does not see himself or herself as “wise”, but as one who knows that whatever wisdom he has absorbed during his life is only his own truth, his own understanding and knowing what works for him. The Hermit therefore refuses the mantle of preacher or counselor or spiritual adviser and turns any seeker who may come to him back into him/herself for their own answers, guiding if necessary their query into their feeling of separation and isolation.
The Hermit is he/she who leads others in the outer world from that which he or she has directly experienced as opposed to secondary information gathered in from sources like books, magazines, heresay, beliefs, opinions, idealistic goals or made up explanations. He is the “Hand” that reaches out to touch others. His 'teaching' is that each of us must touch Life directly through experiencing it and to avoid willing or advising others to be as he or she is. "Be Yourselves" is his guidance.
If asked for guidance, he asks only, "What are you going to do about your life?"The Hermit understandings that he/she must explore and incorporate the dark aspects of self before the experience of wholeness or individuality can be actualized. Therefore, his attention and focus is inward into his own thoughts, feelings and patterns of behavior rather than outward upon others. He refuses to judge either himself or another being. He accepts all others exactly as they are without criticism or judgment. And when he discovers a judgment within his own mind, he neutralizes it through understanding that his own mind has been conditioned to judge and corrects himself with love and compassion for himself. His work is within himself and seldom upon the choices, information or transformative experiences of others. His tools include understanding of basic psychology, philosophical considerations, his own dreams, and his own introspective insights. While some may possess psychic recall or talents of hearing, seeing etc, these are hardly needed. They are not the issue of conscience nor will either. Neither is necessary.
He does not mandate anything as the sole truth or as right for anyone else.. He does not insist on the rightness of his own perspectives. He does not prescribe actions or solutions for others. He does not advise others. He does not interfere in the lives of others in his own authority. He does not attempt to change the choices or intentions of others. He may set an example by his own acts and choices, demonstrating his "Way" of Living", but other than that he is "fatherly" (or she is 'motherly"), supporting others as they live their own lives and supporting others as they find their own answers.
The Lesson of the Hermit is to claim back the power we have given away to feel safe in society or in Nature. No one can give us back our power but us, for it is we who willing give it away for acceptance, approval, recognition and security. We must claim it back by doing our own inner work. .The place to begin is through self-questioning and questioning all authorities you've gone into agreement or alignment with in society. This principle was demonstrated in ancient Athens by the philosopher Socrates, who gave us "the Socratic Method" for investigating the Truth; challenge every proposition or belief accepted by everyone and find instances or points of view where is really is false. Understand that point of view. Ask "Is this a higher point of view than the generally accepted point of view." Thus, the accepted answer is not true but only a widely held belief. or point of view.
The archetype of the Hermit's Lesson is Key IV - The Emperor: The Emperor is the energy of the zodiacal sign of Aries, the energy of Mars, swift, male creative energy; the Constituting Intelligence, that powerful creative force which creates all of existence. Both males and females carry this energy within themselves. Stay in spiritual discipline, do your inner work, meditate on Who You Actually Are, and don't abandon your own will or your own power in the outer world. You are Life Itself. You are the Power of Creation.
The Lesson the Emperor teaches is that “you are not alone.”
The archetype of the Hermit expressing itself in the outer world is Tarot Key 18: The Moon. The Moon is the universal principle of choice-making to recover, define and maintain our authenticity in our outer expression of our selves. Often, this symbol is referred to as the karma card. Karma means "work that needs to be done." The ultimate work to be done each day is to choose whether we will support our own authentic self or fall into conformity with the demands or expectations of others that we meet their needs instead, and so live through our false pretend-selves, our needy-wounded child, or our "dutiful" selves.
The Path of the Luminous Warrior winds into one's own Unknown Self. It requires determination, an open heart, the intent of harmlessness and peace, Love for self and others, Compassion for suffering--one's own and that of others--and Service to Grandmother Earth. There are many along that path who are waiting to pull the Warrior down, but his greatest enemy is within...the enemy aspect of self -- the ego -- who fears life, God, and what he might discover within himself, the one who quits and gives up, who despairs and turns aside. It is a path in which one travels alone or, if fortunate, with the companionship of a beloved friend.
The Path is into acceptance of self, one's life as it comes, and into all the possibilities of being human. It is the Path of Earth Stewardship and partnership with divine will that this Earth shall survive Man's worst behaviors, and that Mankind will "Return to Eden"...which he might discover in Jesus' words: "The Kingdom of Heaven is spread upon the Earth and Mankind does not see it." Those with the eyes to see will in time realize they are Home now..
I return to J. Krishnamurti for a few words....."Because I am free, unconditioned, whole -- not the part, nor the relative, but the Whole Truth that is eternal -- I desire those who seek to understand me to be free; not to follow me, not to make out of me a cage which will become a religion, a sect. Rather should they be free from all fears -- from the fear of religion, from the fear of salvation, from the fear of spirituality, from the fear of love, from the fear of death, from the fear of life itself." J. Krishnamurti
