Thursday Night Steaks !

So, to further complicate things, the weather is squirrelly today.  Since I can't access this website during the work day, if the weather looks questionable as ride time approaches you can contact me via e-mail ([masked]) or on my cell [masked]). A final decision, ride or not, will be made by 4 p.m.

There's good news and there's bad news.

The Bad News: Since our trusted leaders have determined that shutting down the government is the thing to do, we won't be riding from Hillside to Peninsula.  (The Towpath is 'officially' closed.)  While I think we probably could ride, my sensible Virgo side says that it might not be a good idea to tempt fate and get ticketed, or arrested, for trespassing.

The Good News:  We'll still ride (same time) but we'll start in the parking lot at Yours Truly in Independence (or it might be Valley View).  We'll ride north to Steelyard Commons and then back to Champps for dinner (and to watch the Browns game!)  This isn't as far round trip. but it should still be an enjoyable ride.

Hope you'll join us!

Heidemarie

P.S. It figures Moses leaves me in charge and all hell breaks loose.  Also, if you need to contact me, my cell number is[masked]-7797.  I won't have access to the Spokes n Jokes page on Thursday.  Our IT department frowns upon Social Networking sites and I only own a stupid phone!

(I'm leaving the rest of the description below so Moses doesn't need to retype it for future rides!)

Our weekly Towpath Ride will be called Thursday Night Steaks. Fisher's Cafe in Peninsula features an 8 oz Strip Steak, with choice or soup or salad and a side all for 8.99. What better way to get you ready for the weekend than a relaxing Towpath Ride followed by dinner on the patio? Don't eat red meat? No Problem, the menu caters to all. So you get a good work out, a great meal and some laughs just for coming aboard. See you there!

Cant make the ride? Join us for dinner at the cafe at 7:15.

We depart at 6:00pm . Rain cancels. Bike light a good idea.

Crushed Limestone Surface. Easy Social Ride.

We will stop at Brecksville Station at 6:30 for those that want a shorter ride.

Tough call on this one. The rain should pass through by the start but it might be wet out from the line of showers that passes by around 5pm.

by rain I mean some sprinkles and not a major rain event. Possibly a hit or miss 5-10 minute rain at the most before 6. less likely after 6. How's that for clear as mud :-)

I will be there rain or shine. If it rains I am still willing to have dinner. My bike needs a good washing. :-)

How long is this ride? Are we meeting up in the parking lot, then going to champs? I plan to ride but not go to dinner.

The ride is about 15 miles round trip. We'll meet in the Yours Truly Parking lot and then go to Champps.

Parking lots a gated off. Trail is barricaded (at least at Brecksville Station.) While riding around the barricades is possible, it, in my opinion is not the right thing to do. So, I'll be at the parking lots in and around Yours Truly for a departure at 6 p.m. Hopefully the rain will hold off. Keep in mind, I won't be able to respond to any posts after 8 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday) morning.

Brecksville Station parking lot would be open as that is in the Cleve.Metro system.

That is the NPS. The parking west of Riverview is the metropark.

From what I read, gates to parking areas will be locked. We might have to improvise and park outside the park boundaries. There's parking along the TowPath on Canal. I'll check options on Wednesday. Watch here for an update.

I rode CVNP tonite, all bathrooms are locked, large parking lots were open. Also there are parking where they cant lock, Fitzwater, the other side of new bridge has a large open parking lot, lots of places to park on canel road. Brecksville main lot was open, but more parking across River Rd.

The Towpath Trail is NOT closed... just the buildings, restrooms, and gated parking lots.

What about riding the Bike & Hike Trail? Runs pretty east of CVNP and parallel to the Towpath AND is managed by Summit County Metro Parks?? Easy for me to say as I ride from Peninsula, and can drive back down the 303 hill into town for dinner. (Bike & Hike parking lot is on the south side of 303 just bwest of Old RT 8.) What about the northern contingent?
