Let's get out of the city and enjoy a ride with friends!
This ride is mostly on quiet country roads along farms and fields. Very picturesque cycling, easy to ride two abreast for parts of the ride. We will ride south towards the U.S. border, but will not cross the border, then we'll head east a bit and ride north back to the starting point, in the shape of a rectangle.
The meeting point noted above, is for ride-sharing purposes. If you drive straight to the starting point of the cycling route, then plan to arrive there at 10am. I will post the exact route on Thursday: It starts (and ends) in St-Philippe, only 20 minutes south of Montreal.
You can get the .gpx file from the link which I will provide on Thursday, to know where to meet exactly in St-Philippe, and to follow the route using your phone or GPS device.
The ride will be about 90 km and includes no hills of any consequence.
Distance: 90 kms, elevation: about 135 meters total elevation gain.
Difficulty: no hills so we'll average about 23-25 km/hr
Ride-sharing fee is as follows:
$5 per passenger for cars with the driver and 2 or 3 passengers.
$10 per passenger for cars with the driver and 1 passenger.
The fine print:
1 - Preferably a road bike. Touring bike or hybrids or mountain bikes are accepted provided you can keep the pace. We will cruise at an average of 23-25 km/h, more or less on flat roads.
2 - There are 2 questions when you sign up, if you can't see the questions because you are signing up from a cell phone, please make sure you private message me so I can send you the questions, if I get no text and no answer to all questions you will be automatically removed with no warning.
3 - You have a spare tube with you in case something happens. You have a helmet. Equipment will be verified before starting the ride.
4 - Bring your lunch if you want; we will stop in Napierville for lunch at the 60-km mark.
5 - Waiting list: I will manage the meeting list manually.
6 - If you change your mind and must cancel, then out of respect for all our members, please change your RSVP to No at least 36 hours before the event, ie., before 9:30pm Thursday evening. This will give others time to reschedule their plans and jump in. Cancellations after 9:30pm Thursday evening will be considered a no show.
